no, blu-ray is for movies, its a different technology than games.
you can do both on the same system, but they are different.
I just looked at some games,
Tiger woods 09, the Simpsons, and Motor Storm are all 720p.
Ninja Gaiden and GTA4 are 720p & 1080p
It's all rather confusing but some game engines run at true 720p and then upscale to 1080i/1080p. That's the most common. The only game that comes to mind that runs at true 1080p (i.e. the image, textures, characters, and graphical effects are rendered in that resolution) is Metal Gear Solid 4. That game is really a technological marvel it's a world of difference from a game that's being rendered in realtime at 1080i/p and one that's just upscaled. 90% of the games out now just upscale. Still the PS3 is technically able to do so it's just very hard to code something like that and it needs to be exclusivily coded for the PS3 system just like metal gear 4 was .
