Let 'em grow. You can have lots of fun with extra seeds. If you know a place where local law enforcement likes to set up a speed trap, drop a handful in the nearest soil. If you've got commuter trains in your area, throw some across the tracks from the platform. Next to a bus bench. In a ditch. On the unmowed highway median. Be creative.

Greening the nation, one county at a time.
  • The government can spend all the time and money it wants to eradicate my random grows. Better to keep them pursuing something innocuous like weed than have them causing real harm.
  • I wish everyone would do it. At some point it will become just another weed.
  • It's not an invasive species. Hemp has been growing here for hundreds of years.
  • Deer love it.

not to be a downer but random ditch weed would make its way into your life. wouldn't you pissed if a field of males was growing somewhere within range of your outdoor grow. id be pissed

the genetics would go downhill, so much variety would taint good sensimillia

There are lots of good reasons other than civil disobedience to do this.
  • The local ditch weed is hardy and can survive and thrive in the local climate. That's exactly what I would want in my plants. One word answer: Ruderalis.
  • Growing outdoors, random pollination is always a risk. If you grow outdoors, you have to accept the risk of multiple uncontrollable factors. Mold, bud rot, critters... That's part of life. If you're in the Midwestern US, pollination by ditchweed - industrial hemp - is a very real risk.
  • Where do you think all our modern genetics come from? Indigenous crops. Gotta have some males in the mix there somewhere. Some of the most famous strains and breeding stock of all time were random pollinations.
  • Genetic diversity is a very good thing. Check out the great hunger (potato famine) of 1845. Some mold evolves and takes out all the inbred strains, you'll thank people like me (and people who have preserved "landrace" strains) for promoting genetic diversity and letting nature take its course.
Naturally, this applies to food crops as well.

also alot of modern breeding projects dont happen all by accident. alot of time and energy goes into selecting individual characteristics, and ditch weed would drive that further from itself. auto flowers are an abomination to those trying to keep stable genetics , they cannot be revegged and therefore inferior to me

generic diversity is bad if your trying to replicate something on a large scale. if one plant grows short and one grows tall, it will mess all your lighting up. of course I'd love to live in a world with it growing everywhere , but good weed will still need to be selectively grown. smh

A lot of modern cannabis breeding projects are commercial ventures. They breed for high THC content. They breed for high yield. They breed for "bag appeal". These things are marketable and highly beneficial to commercial growers but not necessairly for consumers. Selective breeding by it's nature breeds out other factors.

Strawberries are an excellent example. Strawberries are bred to be able to survive shipping and handling, for shelf stability and for shelf appeal. This benefits commercial growers and supermarkets. A great majority of consumers have never eaten a locally grown strawberry. The difference in flavor is astounding.

I 100% agree that genetic similarity benefits growers. It also presents the aforementioned risk of losing an entire crop to a single vector.

If humans didn't have genetic diversity, Covid would wipe out the entire human race. Something to consider.

diversity is good for us. not for a plant that you grow to consume, it's nothing more then a fruit. and wouldn't you want the best tasting fruit? I wouldn't desire ditch strawberries but hey to each their own. not all new breeding projects are pollen chucks. some people work hard and are not cash grabbers. that's definitely a false assessment

this is contradictory , consumer literally wants ALL those things. why would I buy inferior products ? these aspects clearly benefit the small gardener if not more then lowering the benchmark

Seeds can hurt yields but not potency. After the seeds are picked out the weed that's left is just as strong, gram for gram, as it would've been without the seeds, and if you believe the old hippies it smokes better.
I would go with making concentrates personally. I don't mind picking out one or two seeds, but beyond that it kind of ruins the relaxation for me. First run of ice water hash is drying now.

Shit, I gotta update that thread.

I'm in the same situation, week 7 & 4 . I'm finishing the week 7 and debating the 4s. still have to tear down and kill pollen. sucks but its part of it
Ya its not ideal at all lol. My biggest issue is by I can't find where the pollen came from, so I don't know if a couple banana s popped just to fuck everything and go away or what. Regardless I'll end up with a ton of seeds and bud I'm sure lol Ill be on top of things a lot more from now on to prevent this next time.

FTW! Let them finish. Damage is done. No need to make it a complete loss.
Separate the seeds/sort them if different strains... If you don't know who pollinated who...
Toss Covid Orgy in the name
Then try the smoke.. if you like it.. no loss at all.. actually you got a come up with the seeds.
I'd plant 5 from each plant in cups, and 12/12 from seed to see what I was workin with.
Have fun with it.
Lmao covid orgy, ya that bout sums this up alright haha. I will probably give them a go just for shits and giggles and see what happens. I have enough lights so might as well.

Well those are some dam nice plants e

Ya I'll finish them off, had a first minute panic but fuck it, damage is done and effort is already put into them haha.

@dopetoker420 Sorry for derailing your thread. Grow them out. It's like a box of chocolates.
Haha no worries, I always enjoy reading info.

Ok well I'll ride it out and take what I can get and process the rest into concentrates if it's as seedy as I think it may be lol. I have heard from a few people recently that say its a better high but being someone who very rarely smoked seeded bud I can't remember haha. Thanks for letting me know bout the potency, that's something I was really concerned about since I need the potency since I'm a long time smoker. Ill have to check out your thread!
