Hi everyone,
I recently moved from Portland, OR to Kingman in July and had about enough of the meds the VA gives me. I was injured in Iraq, have diagnosed PTSD which affects any sleep I get(when i finally do fall asleep), hearing loss, breakdown of cartilage in my knees which causes a lot of pain during movement.. and I get migraines about 3 times a week, causing dizziness, nausea and sensitivity to light.. I have dealt with most of this since 2004. The VA meds don't work for me and I am willing to try other alternatives now. Of course I have all paperwork, dr's notes etc.. I am pretty unfamiliar with Arizona so could use any advice, recommendations or help you can give..

Thanks so much!

if no one from AZ can chime in I would go to NORMLs website as they post up legit doctors

I am int he same boat as you, took my med records to a doc and was in and out. They have to have records that are under a year old but many of the doctors will just take you on as a patient and screen you. If you have a VA disability rating you will have no issues getting your recommendation.

Get your last years medical records from the V.A. , Next make an appointment with a medical marijuana doctor. Now all you need is th show up with the money to pay & your all set. Im a 'Nam combat vet(11b20) & that's what I did. They will not talk to you about PTSD in AZ yet, it is not on the approved list. You can get the card for chronic pain from your knees or the migraines, I have bad shoulders & get 180 Vicadain a month for them & thats all the Dr needed to see. YES, my biggest benefit is from PTSD relief although prescribed for chronic pain.
You can PM me if I can help you in any way . . .

After a SEARCH on the net I dont see a Dr in Kingman so you may need to make a day trip. I had my state approval by email when I got home from seeing the Dr ! Happens pretty fast & card withn 5 days for me.

Thanks a lot.. I just filled out the info for AZMMCC for the Wickenburg office. Im in Kingman, so that looks to be the closest office for me. I also printed out my authorization to release my VA medical records. They will be for the last 6 years, including all the meds that were prescribed by the VA. Id love to stop taking all the pills if possible. I was a combat medic with a light Cav unit that was re-classed as infantry during our deployment to Baghdad from 03-05. I do have a VA disability rating and have been getting all my info together to meet with the DAV to fight for an increase as well. I tried to file all my own claim with the VA and definitely didn't fight back for myself. Im fighting back now..
Thanks a lot for all your help. I really do appreciate it.

i think there are a few places in flagstaff that do recommendations if that is closer. otherwise all i know is phoenix area doctors. If you are planning to go to wickenburg it may be worth it to just come to phoenix depending on how much they are charging. I know that the 2811 club in north phoenix is doing recommendations for $65; they are on bell rd and I-17.

It is easier & quicker to just get 1 years worth of medical records from the V.A. than 100s of pages, I went thru that too & wound up just going to the VA here in Phx, getting a few records released right then (instead of waiting for them to get around to printing & mailing them, Wouldn't release them to me in person because it would take too long they said) & going from there right to my appointment a few blocks away. The Dr went over my records etc before we met & then met & discussed treatments & His recommendation for MMJ & any other helpful info. I left with the certification & had the email at home from the STATE saying I was accepted when I got home.
If your problems are legit , & they sure sound like it, then you are set. I paid the fees for the Dr office to do my pic & file all the stuff needed, that's why it was done by the time I got home !

if you go thru Wikiup, EAT AT JOES BBQ is some of the best in the state.

Thank you all for your help.. I filed today online with AZMMCC, and received an email from them that my authorization is signed and filed. It also said that they notified my Dr, and are requesting all my medical files... so hopefully it will all work out.. It seems like things are in motion at least, which is more than I can say for anything for the VA.
If it doesn't work out, then I will do what you suggested Wolfhound.. It looks like AZMMCC is really on top of things so far. The next step with them is their Dr reviewing my records then I get an appt with him/her and then hopefully I'm all legal then. Then its on to a new project of my first grow, but Im looking forward to it..
Again, thank you all!!

he's working on a contract with the VA? i read something a year or so ago about the feds position on vets getting meds from the VA and using medical pot. i'm not quite sure where they stand on it, and i'm not telling my care provider anything about my wanting medical pot! it would be nice if the VA was cool with it but i trust the federal gubment about as far as i trust a crack head!

The Va WILL NOT give you narcotic meds IF you test postive for weed....but you cvan get all other care. just not pain relief care

that's an odd rule. i've given them a lot of blood and pee over the last year. i wonder what would cause them to test someone for thc? i'll have to do some reading but first i want to get my card or at least try to get one. i made a note to get my medical records. i'm so good at putting things off. i wish it was a marketable skill! :)
