Hello fitness section. I was a trainer for 11 years, did body building and MMA for most of my life.

I'm in California and the state basically shut down again. I'm bored and always on this site. So I figured I would offer my assistance to anyone who could use it.

If you have questions about fitness goals feel free to ask. Im not doing anything else anyway lmao.

I have two ruptured discs in my lower back that I can't afford surgery for. Arthritis has fused 4 vertebrae in my cervical column and my left hip and knee is constantly painful from it. My doc thinks rheumatoid arthritis is responsible for the constant pain and limited ability of my hands, even tho I don't test positive for it. I'm getting fat from inactivity.
I can't do the calisthenics the army taught me.
Thoughts?

I am with the others, @Wizzlebiz what you got for lower back issues? I destroyed a disk in my lower lumbar when 20 moving a 2 ton air conditioner. Its been a source of constant pain for almost 30 years. 2 years ago got worse and created sciatic nerve pain running all the way down right leg. With my job I walk about 5 miles a day and am constantly moving 75 to 100 lbs machines. Any exercises for that you can reccomended?

Have you tried inversion? @curious2garden @Aeroknow say salonpas really help but I haven't used them yet. My issue is just under my shoulder blades.

Hey, no but I have heard it can be good. I must admit I sometimes hang upside down in a tree outside cottage when back bothering me after moving engines around but never tried it at home. Does it work for you?

I used to laugh at people with hurt backs. Until I had one. It’s not fun or funny. Karma went to work on me. Luckily it wasn’t major or required surgery.

How old are you? Which 4 are fused? How bad to the hands hurt?

The weight can be taken care of with a proper diet.

Yoga. Beginners yoga. Don't over exert at 1st. Just do what you can fairly comfortably. Increasing your flexibility as well as your core strength does wonders for all sorts of things.

Index fingers, mostly, but my knuckkes all hurt to one degree or another, depending on use.
My diet is good (for me), it's the inactivity from Corona and injury that really messes with me. Calories in, calories out

Diet should be a ebb and flow with your activity levels.

So if your activity level lowers so should your calorie intake.

What used to be appropriate for you is no longer appropriate in this particular state.

You will have serious mobility issue for most exercises however again beginners yoga can help you a tremendous amount. 1st and foremost you should be focused on flexibility to make the other things you want to do easier. Then move forward to attempting very light calisthenics.
