For the back issue folks. If you dont do anything else for your lower back I suggest this.

asana_563.jpg

Dangling pose.

Bend over with knees slightly bent, head tucked as far as you can, and hold your elbows as shown above.

With each exhale of breath allow your self to go lower towards the floor with you elbows. Allowing the back to bow as shown above it the point of this pose. It stretches out the entire spine releasing pressures off of the disks between the vertebrae. Light weight inversion pose Essentially.

Do this 2xs a day for 1 minute. You can feel it the 1st time you do it.

Yoga. Beginners yoga. Don't over exert at 1st. Just do what you can fairly comfortably. Increasing your flexibility as well as your core strength does wonders for all sorts of things.
I will check it out. I am thankfully reasonably flexible and still able to do most things as long as I am able to walk. I have just become accustomed to the pain after almost 30 years with it. I see you posted the dangling pose which is something I already do, just had no idea what it was called. An actor buddy of mine who is a work out nut showed me that and something called the Childs pose. There are really the only 2 stretches I do. Thanks for the info bud, much appreciated

Hey he’s right on here. I went to the good feet store when my back was hurt and got inserts. Wow what a difference it made. I still wear them everyday I have had them for 10 years
I am not a fan of shoes, although I am stuck wearing them at work, most of the time I am barefoot. At this point I have feet like a Flintstone or at least that's what the neighbor said while I was out shoveling the snow off my truck and driveway the other day. I have heard it can be quite helpful for some though.

For you guys with hurt backs, I have been through some of that as well. I have had 4 back surgeries. My L1-5 all severely ruptured. A while back I lost 100 pounds and then ruptured another disc making me unable to walk until surgery. I gained it all back and about 7 months ago I decided I needed to do something despite myself so I have done Keto. When I can I do Yoga and walk even though its not far before the pain swells up too much. I am down 105 lbs again. Sometimes like this week when I can barely walk I jist do stretches every day as much as I can bear it. I will do some yoga poses that I am able to get into and out of. It is hard to develop habits when what you are able to do may change day to day or week to week. I try to develop habits I can do at least some part of. If you have access to an indoor pool I find that is one of the lowest impact exercises I can do personally. I know everyone is different and it gets exhausting when people suggest things and you are like "they don't understand how hard it is for me to do x" Just my 2 cents.

Also, I know they are expensive and Im not saying there isn't something that may suit you better but I got a sleep number bed that raises at the head and feet and it has improved my sleep immensely. Your whole body is shit when you wake up 3 or 4x and cant go back to bed because of pain.

It gets better. Takes time and good habits.

No question an indoor pool is perfect. Low impact movement. Can get low resistance as well to help rebuild.

One thing that made losing weight easier on me (besides getting off medication but that’s a whole other thread) was skipping breakfast.
When I need to get that last couple off I have a small breakfast with in one hour of waking up.

If you dont eat your metabolism slows down in a defense mode to conserve energy. Then people will eat a larger lunch and dinner to satisfy what wasn't there earlier. Not saying that you do just the majority of people. The large meals becomes an issue without breakfast.

Think of your metabolism as a fire. When you start a fire you begin with kindling. Cant just throw a log on there and light it up. It won't burn well without kindling.

Now with that said. If you are doing intermittent fasting thats a completely different way to have your metabolism function while not having breakfast.

With me if I eat in the morning I get tired and hungry earlier than if I don't. I always figured if you start with out food you'll start to use what you've already stored. Unless it's going to be a real good workout or very cold then I'll load up. I used to do that for races. Big dinner then light like a granola bar morning of the race. But when ski coaching on a -20° day I'm eating 3 breakfasts and snacking on trail mix on runs.

You do get hungrier after eating breakfast but thats due to the metabolism picking up pace from. Eating breakfast. For weight loss its what you want.

For training for competition is a very different thing. We want stores of energy loaded in for the activity. So what your doing makes tons of sense.

Couldn’t disagree more. You can’t make a blanket statement like that for every person. Cmon man

I hear ya. I usually weight more in the summer......this year probably more with the lack of the end of last ski season.... doesn't look like we will be skiing much this year also. Gotta figure out something to keep me going this year. I was even saying this to my wife the other night.......I'm not feeling like myself. It's tough being a stay at home dad and getting real exercise in.

your diet is way more important than any amount of exercise you do. getting the munchies is counter productive to losing weight, lol so we all fooked, ha ha ha.........

That is a very good video, the lad probably lives round the corner too.
