Is it true some strains won't flower outdoors?

Hi everyone, I am doing my first ever grow outdoors in the Seattle area, I have 12 plants in 25 and 45 gallon fabric pots. One of my plants is "William's Wonder" and I have read that she won't begin flowering outdoors.
Does anyone have experience with this strain? Will she not flower outdoors? Anybody?

Williams wonder needs to have light dep to introduce flower but will finish outdoors once flowering starts. May I ask why you bought that strain if u r growing outdoors

When I was at the clone store she looked so healthy and lovely AND I told the guy that owned the "Cloner's Market" in Seattle that I had read that "William's Wonder" will not flower outdoors and he assured that was not true.
I have also read that this strain was bred to grow outside by growers in Williams Oregon (where it gets it's name) so there seems to be contradicting information.
So I am not sure what to do just yet..?
Do You have experience with this strain?

Use panda film or other light blocking fabric to make a light deprivation cover, make sure to allow airflow and be sure the temps are not to high when you use it.

Me no not personally. I just read several peoples posts about growing it outdoors. Even the seed website said it wont flower outdoors. Soooo idk

I would think it would.. Nature seems to have a lot of that worked out. Would be crazy if it doesn't though! Is it just from a tropical region or something like that?

Never heard of something like that. But if that is true the advice you already received to induce flower with light deprivation is your best advice. Just make sure you wait until flower season unless you want to be throwing tarps over a hoop house for 2+ months.

Afghani genetics. I've never grown it but have read that it needs to be started inside. I can't think of any other strain that has to be grown that. Must be something good it's been around awhile.

you get far shorter days than i do

ive never heard of this.. seen lots of crazy strains, some by age especially along the equator.. some that grow like vines and propagate themselves

We get shorter winter days but also longer summer days further north.

That came out from the Dutch in the 80s.Day length in Amsterdam gets up to 17 hrs in summer. Too cold and wet as days get shorter.

I'm with qwiso. It would have to flower.

Its not that it won't flower.

The problem is it may be a longer flowering strain and won't finish.

Indica's being the fastest flowering and sativa being longer. I have personally grown 16 week strains and I'm in the south and not every year that it can be done.

A lot of strains will start flowering at around 14.5 hour days. Strains from equatorial regions are used to 12/12 their whole life and won't flower until the days get real short. Some need 10/14 to really flower.

Take the flowering time and count back from your areas average first frost. Count an extra week or two back and that's when you want to deprive the light. To initiate flower early so it finishes on time.

If it is slow to flower, and starts even later up north because the days stay long further into the summer, then it may not work well outdoors in some climates? It seems like there is no solid consensus on this strain, so your local description may fit your environment the best.

Williams Wonder, is one of the few early nighties strains ..I hate!

it will eventually fall to flower like 6-8 weeks after a same say White Widow, if grown outdoors

back in the day, some strains did fall to flower, but late... others very very late indeed

to overcome this, many growers vegged inside and only dropped them to bud months later coming in to fall

it was a plant to grow at the end of the growing season, because of this it went to auto very quickly

but that didn't really work either(see short stuff auto#1)

one of the worst strains ever for me a bummer on taste and high

much better value around today

Thats right after sam showed up with haze , nl, and skunk it was pretty well kicked to the curb.
