I was overfeeding, I kept pushing nutes because I though I saw nothing wrong... but I had missed signs. Anything you have to say I'd appreciate hearing. I'll probably be going back to the 5 gal for Sannie's Jack in a few months, I can't have it all go to hell in week 9 out of 11-13.

I'm finishing week 2 of the cure, so it's rough but smokeable. Unsurprisingly, it's a solid Sativa that makes you feel good and gets rid of any anxiety or stress. No real indica effect whatsoever, which I like. It's extremely easy to have an overall feeling of well being while smoking it. I haven't been able to compare the phenos... on the surface they seem to have the same effect. I'll report back after I've had time to seriously experiment with them. I really wish I had not adjusted my lights off of the Ruderalis plant, I'm curious if I decreased my overall yield with that move.

I'd rate it under/below a good jack herer, but the cure should be allowed to finish before any real judgment.

Hey staygreener - thanks for posting this journal - it's comprehensive and detailed. I just got a p150 (no additional lighting) and I'm on day 25 of veg (our plants look in similar shapes at similar times). This is one of the few p150 journals I've seen so I'm particularly interested.

I've got some questions that I was hoping you could answer: 1) Did you keep the veg and bloom lights on for the p150 during veg growth? 2) What was the final product weight you achieved (cured) roughly? I've heard that 1g per watt of light is a rough calc for a decent grow.

Thanks!

Long story short, it will grow either way. I am of the opinion that 50 watts (blue only) isn't enough (as in I want it to grow faster, it still works either way), but adding reds in veg should give you faster and taller growth. I decided to do 50w of blues (not flipping the reds) and adding 100w of cob light... these days the p150 is more of a UV/IR supplement than actual light.

Cure isn't done, but I'm just shy of 8 ounces, I severely underestimated stem weight. Considering I have 250w of lights... I could do better... but this was my second grow so I'm ecstatic.

The biggest problem with the p150 is that the reds are absolute crap. Unless you are working with a tiny grow space, I highly recommend you look into supplementing with some 2700-3500K light.

Staygreener - thank you so much for the reply! Do you have any suggestions for the supplemental light? I assume that this supplemental light would be used during flowering - any links or brand names to check out would be amazing - I'm a total noob and it's hard to google for stuff if you don't know the lingo used.

I went p150 b/c electricity is expensive where I'm at even though all the research I've done has show that people generally use this as a supplemental light - it is what it is. It's my first grow.

Anyway, thanks again for your report and this journal - it's been extremely helpful!

PS ~224 grams (8oz) is pretty darn close to 1gram/watt! I'm jealous af.

Anything would work, probably the easiest to implement would be CFL? Maybe some of those new Cree LED screw ins?

I made my own lights by getting a high efficiency CoB (Cree 3070/3590, Bridgelux Vero 18/29; underlined are the ones I got), using thermal adhesive to "glue" it to a computer heat sink, then finding a way to hang the heat sink and power the fan. It's really not that bad. The LED/other section makes the DiY process seem way too complicated with their housings and professional displays... you don't need to be handy. You just have to have the knowledge to not electrocute yourself and buy the right power supply. Hell, Veros don't even require you to solder because they also have a proprietary (Pico ezmate) power connector.

I gotta be honest with you. I regret buying it. If you dig a little bit into this site you'll see that a lot of people hate them. They've pulled some shady marketing tactics and they're really just cheap chinese LED's with fancy packaging. Nonetheless, it will grow weed. Without supplementing anything, your buds may be fluffy and/or stretch for light.

Yeah, staygreener, I was worried you'd say that - but what's done is done so I gotta push forward with the stuff I've got. Even the sales dude was pushing me to get a p300 but it was too much scratch to drop on something I've never tried before, you know?

I think I'll try to add some CFLs before I flip to flower. At most, I could add two 42w (150 equiv) CFLs - you think that would provide the bump I need?

It would depend on the size of your grow space. Most likely, you'd still be underlit, but it would definitely help.

If anyone's still following...

I did have two unique phenos. One had extremely dense, but weak, buds (aka ruderalis dom). The other had gigantic and fluffy buds with a very strong sativa effect (aka sativa dom). It has now been at a constant 60-62% for eight months in a sealed jar... I keep my stash in jars and open them weekly to refill my grinder.

Taste: Not noteworthy in either, but the sativa dom is super smooth.

Effect: Sativa dom is amazing, you can really feel whatever Jack Herer they used. Perfect anti-depressant/anxiety. Ruderalis dom is weak. For how dense it is, you need to smoke way too much. Just a generic indica/sativa mix high, nothing special.

Smell: They smell similar. Sativa dom has more of a lemon/tangy vibe, whereas the ruderalis dom smells like a bouquet of flowers.

Density: The ruderalis dom is about twice as dense (if not more) than the sativa dom.

My recommendation: You want the sativa dom. Two plants is nowhere near enough samples, but if you've got to make a decision, I would trade all of my ruderalis dom for the sativa dom. I've got some RP Strawberry-Banana that I need to grow first, but the non-fast Jack 47 is definitely on my list after maybe Sannie's Jack.

Gnarls, thanks for closing the loop. Side, I harvested using my p150 and although I didn't get a great yield, the quality was decent. Thank you for your input.
