Will update with pictures this sunday (day 14 from flip). Plants have stretched some but not a great deal probably 0.5 inches per day and everything was going perfect until a couple days ago when the e.c started to rise… i did a water change and upped to 1.5/6 and within 2 days it went up to 1.8. I have since lowered to 1.4 but i feel as though its rising again. PH stable and no leaf signs plants seem healthy with no burns. Question is what is the best plan of attack? Do I continue to lower daily or leave it and see if it sorts itself out
They are taking in more water than nutrients, in hydro that usually means to decrease your ec

Hi thanks for the reply, I have since lowered the ec to 1.4, which is where they were at when the ppms were dropping but since lowering its gone up again to 1.5 so would you suggest lowering to an even lower value?

Hoping to get it under wraps pretty soon as this Sunday they start on PK so i want them to be eating right as they start to flower fully

Ec seems to have dropped again since lowering which is good news. Starting Pk this Sunday. Vpd chart still calling for 60/65% humidity with 28c temps. Seems a bit high for 3rd week of flowering? Do people just stick to it or should I lower to 55ish

Day 14: stretch is definitely slowing down now but not quite over yet i dont think, buds starting to come in and some nice strong branching. Starting pk today. Input ec 1.4 as I think thats where they are happiest at this stage

Thinking next weekend I will probably need to do some defol as it’s pretty dense in there. Lowered humidity to 58% room temps 28.5c

Looking real nice :-)
I thought humidity was supposed to be below 40 from day 1 in flower, but I might have been misinformed. I just flipped mine at 40% and they seem happy with it, growing really well.

Hi mate thanks for the comment! I am trying to follow a vpd chart which calls for higher humidity at this point. I will be lowering to 55/50 as the weeks go on… I think 40 is more for late flower to prevent mold and bud rot issues

With proper airflow and an eventual defoliation youll be okay, however a less mildew resistant plant or dead zones of little/no airflow can potentially cause mildew at 58%^, at any stage of flower. battled it recently myself.

I think having checked the VPD chart i can probably lower my humidity to around 55/53% humidity within the next week or two

Day 17 lights off: the buds are starting to really form now and i think the stretch is pretty much over. Planning on doing a dofol this weekend. How hard would i want to go? I’m not sure if I’m quite brave enough to strip them bare like some people do lol but im definitely wanting to thin it out for airflow, humidity and light penetration

@Marcorfl according to Kyle Kushman you should defoliage everything except the top 3 nodes of the plant and anything that receives light. Simple enough. According to members of this forum it's also important to remove overlapping leaves as these leave water between them, risking mold/rot.

If somebody has any other advice I would like to hear about it too.

Hi bud, yeah I believe I’ve seen that video of his on YouTube. I am just unsure on the safest route as I’m really not wanting to stress them out too much and stunt them but it’s definitely too dense in there

You know, I've recently found that if you cut your leaves further out from the stalk, ie closer to the leaves, they bleed less and it doesn't seem to stunt the plant at all.
Try it!

What i do around this time, is get rid of the lowest nodes that are receiving next to nothing when it comes to light, lollipoping is absolutely fine and will not stress the plant in a bad way ,then during the weeks I'll tuck what i can and pull whatever leaf must be removed a little at a time during flower development, no way in hell would i just take off more than i need , there is endless debates over this topic and the only way you'll know what works best for you is doing it yourself.

I got quite a few of those useless nodes. My question is should I wait til after the stretch and do them all at once, or pluck a few every now and then?

Personally , I will do it all at once to get it over and done with and as said it has never delayed anything, if anything.. they love it, just as the plant ends its big stretch which is around day 15 / the beginning of week 3 for me just before flower mode kicks into overdrive .

Hi mate, thank you for the in depth response. I did remove lots if the lower shoots in veg so but of course there are still plenty tiny ones in the middle that are a waste, I’ll remove them for sure to if nothing else to just give better airflow. I do prefer the idea of plucking leaves here and there where it’s needed to uncover lower growth. I also find that in DWC they just seem to get crazy foliage which needs pruning more than say a coco or soil plant
