found a 275gallon ones but they wont fit into the house lol... trash cans only go up to 90gallon an hard to measure how much water is missing when topping off.

any ideas? thinking of getting plywood and make a giant box and using some rubber or plastic lining inside and then 2x4s around bottom and middle of box on outside for structure... top can be a plywood peice alittle larger then box so i can nail 2x4 around edge so it can sit ontop of the rez. so nice solid top.

Plywood could work.

Another option if you can find it is an aquarium off Craig's list.

Cover the glass to lightproof it, make your DIY top for light proofing and pumps and tubes etc.

I have a recurculating system that I had to build a tray for. I made a 10x7 box 10 inches high, lined the inside with regular blue plastic tarp. And them put a second lining of lynolyum flooring material. You have to make sure when using plastic is the floor to be clean. If there is even a small rock, the water weight will puncture the material and water is everywhere.

1gal of water = 8.33 lbs. 200-250 gal water = 1666-2082 lbs. if your using plywood know that this is a big amount of water. To mark out a trash barrel you'd need to first level it off and then pour 5 gallons in at a time, and mark each 5 gal mark. you could do this by making a ruler you dip into the trash barrel with a piece of wood strapping or something, sort of like a depth gauge. do it yourself bro! 3x 90 gal trash barrels and make sure if you modify them whatever you add on is easy to dissassemble and clean

Anyone know a formula to see what size i would have to build for 200 gallons... like 3ft wide by 4ft long by 3ft high would hold how much water?

thats example dont have to answer that lol. Just in case i decide to build one wanna know dimensions but that link from lowes is looking promising.
