How are you planning to ventilate this? It's oddly shaped for a good flow.

Start reading all you can like immediately. You still have time.

Read about pH, germinating, seedling stage and veg. stage...that's what you'll be doing 1st...

get through that, flowering will be much easier...

Buy a hygrometer/thermometer...or 2 or 3

When you get your stuff, set it up and run it a day or 2...check temps. while running...see how hot it gets

you'll need ventilation and fans...a power strip is handy...pH pen is handy...you need to know what your water is (pH)

keep it as simple as you can 1st time...and pick one guy and listen to him... if you listen to everybody, you'll get all fucked up.

This time next year...you won't need much help...it comes to you over time.

When I moved inside after growing outside for a long time, I asked a guy how long would it take to learn enough to get by, his answer was:

This guy is right. It would be nice to cut a hole in ceiling and use an inline fan for air exchange. Suck out the hot air and send it elsewhere...while sucking in fresh air from under the door.

White walls are better. They reflect light. Could use a variety of things to do that. White cardboard even.

The "Ceiling" has 3' of concrete above it. This space sits directly below our front porch....

I was planning on a 6" inline with a charcoal canister drawing air from the back at the highest point possible. How do I control odors escaping my intake though?

There should be some sort of quiz that you have to pass before you are allowed to germinate.... Right?

If it is actually working as an intake it shouldn't be a problem, odors don't travel against the wind. You could always filter your intake with a scrubber if you're worried about it.

If you're growing in soil then odds are you don't need to worry about PH. I've grown indoors for over 15 years and only checked pH a couple times. You don't need to watch videos for a year to start growing either. You throw your seeds in a glass of water for 24hrs then place them directly into the soil about 3/4" inch down and cover it with dirt then give it some water. You can start off with fluoro lights to veg them. Its not hard to grow. Good luck.

Start thinking about drilling through it to fit a 6" pipe...I know that sucks to think about...ventilation is important...
Got any masonry tools for that? Or think of the best place to put a hole somewhere for exhausting...

A carbon filter would be inside the room sucking in air...and exhausting it outside the room where the inline fan would likely be...
and it will smell like a bag of fresh charcoal where it exhausts out...everything smells like something...Lol...or you could have the inline inside the room attached to a pipe going out...exhausting into the room just doesn't seem likely...has to take heat and scent out of the room...unless somebody has a more innovative idea that I'm not thinking of...

If you own the house and your grow area is in the basement you really don't need to worry about smell. Is there a door to your basement? I had two 1,000 hps going in a big room in my basement and you couldn't smell weed unless you went into the basement. I left two big fans running 24/7 with no carbon filters. Just something to think about.

3' = 3ft. 3" = 3 inches lol that's a lot of drilling. So hes saying its 3ft of concrete which would take too much work to drill.

Yeah, I quit using mine. Nobody smells anything anyway...but it still smells where it exhausts...

Ask Alienwidow what he suggests...you could maybe run AC...now you're getting into more equipment and power usage...

Personally, I'd want an exhaust hole...I didn't want to do it here either, decided I had no choice and just did it...

All problems can be solved. Trust me.

Even if I could drill thru the 3 FEET of concrete I now have my exhaust right next to my front door. My thinking was to run the exhaust the length of the unit to the vent at the other end.

And yes, smell is an issue. As I mentioned before we have an grumpy old lady who lives down there. She doesn't have access to this side of the basement (installed a fucking bank vault door to keep her insanity contained). So a little smell is ok, full on sticky icky stank not so much.

I'm gonna work up some plans this week for everyone to review and provide feedback.

Loads of good advice. I don't use autos. I can get better quality and yield in the same time (perhaps a little longer) from fem seed grown 12/12 or a very short veg time. Not every strain responds well to 12/12 from seed but plenty will be great. But I have read plenty times that autos don't respond well to LST or cropping. Maybe you should look into that more
