Plants sleep so which is best

yah, i've read all of your posts, and i don't understand what you mean that your plants like to sleep at a certain time of the day every day.. now, i'm not trying to be a dick or whatever, but what exactly do you mean by sleep? i think this is what is throwing all of us off your ? here.. do the plants just go limp and less perky at a certain time of day everyday? if so, this is not really sleeping, and some strains just do this naturally, and it doesn't mean that they are technically sleeping, and are still photosynthesising and converting light and co2 into sugars.. so long as there is light to be absorbed through the stomata, the plants have the ability to photosynthesis and produce sugars and whatnot.. turn out the lights, and photosynthesis stops.. even with lights out, plants aren't technically sleeping still..

i think he means that the plant doesn't respond when the lights come on, as in its having a lie in for 5 hours, and he's asking whether he can put the lights on earlier. And to answer ...No, keep a basic 12/12 cycle, the plants will need 12 hours off and 12 hours on, it will respond to the light in the way it needs to. Keep it as it is

This is painful, I tried to help you, sorry but go do some research, you obviously need to since you dont seem to understand even simple proccesses and flowering......

sorry i appoligize. when i wake in morning ilook in grow room, plant is semi limp then i turn lights on after 5 min its awake an sucking light up, come 1pm its gone limp like its been overwaterd although it aint an its in full light weather it sun or bulbs, and stays like that til tea time 5pm then it wakes up again and uses the light, but ithen have to turn my lights off 2 hours later. but ive read while its limp it doesnt use sunlight or do any chemical processing internally, so hyperthetically what would appen if the 12\12 was reversed

yea, it will stress the plants a bit, but theoretically it wouldn't do much harm as long as it was still a constant 12 on 12 off

yah, i agree with dark.. messing with your light schedule like that is the number one way to stress out your lil babies and cause them to turn hermie on you, which is never good.. i just don't know where you have read or heard that when the plants go limp that they are no longer photosynthesising or creating sugars and what not.. i have never heard that in my life and don't really buy into that theory.. so long as light and co2 are available to a plant, it will photosynthesis, period.. it may appear that they are sleeping and not doing much, but its kinda hard to see what's going on at a cellular level if you know what i mean..

Why did it take so long to get to that. European cannabis culture book says plants sleep an it same as overwater. Thats why when i repot i dunk em in water first, LESS STRESS

which wud be the best cycle providing the plant sleeps 5hrs ?... 7hours of light then it sleeps 5hrs then 12 hours of dark to produce the chemicals needed.. or what im doing now is lights on at 7am but it sleeps 1pm til 5-6pm and lights go off at 7pm so my plant is only benefiting from only 7 hours light or again would it be better to give it the full 12hr light let it sleep the 1st 5hrs of dark and then 7hrs to produce its chemicals but is the 7hrs enuf time. so there is 3 different ways to do it which is best or which will give me a bigger yield, ps 3 times i have wrote this out now, please read carefully
They don't take catnaps man....Your way over thinking it. Your plant does NOT have an internal clock like we humans. When you shut the light off it sleeps, and if everyday at the EXACT same time your plants wilt or show no life, someone may be messing with you. I think your just overanalyzing things. Dont forget its a weed, I got 3 foot tall weeds already next to my house, unfortunatly there sow-thistles.

there only me & my wife, maybe ppl dnt watch ther plants as close as me but they definitely go limp every day same time, if they got no body clock why do they do this? can any1 say 4 sure they do photosynthesise while limp, with evidence, thats all i want to know, as wud rather my plant used 12hrs of light as opposed to 7hrs IF IT IS NOT photosynthesising while limp

what u goin on about i am doin 12\12. every plant sleeps, some in day or night, when mine sleeps i turn lights off coz it not using light. does it produce these chemicals in its sleep. whats wrong with 12 hrs light turn lights off for 5hrs while it sleeps then keeping lights off for a further 7hrs makes the 12\12 but is the 7 hrs dark enuf time to make enuf chemicals for the next day, thats all i want to know
Your plant does not sleep. If you give the plant more than 12 hours of light it will think that it is summer and not flower. Once you give the plant 12 hours of light or less it thinks it is fall and begins the flower sequence. If you have an auto-flowering variety it will flower no matter what.

To the OP, I know exactly what youre saying. I think one person has actually answered the question. Im growing 10 OG Kush and my plant go limp during the light cycle at the same time every day. Approximately 2 hours before the lights shut off. I had them on 18/6 and they would go limp at the 16th hour. I thought maybe it was taking in too much light and went to 16/8. Same thing. They go limp at the 14th hour. They perk up at 2 hours before the lights come on as well. So the one answer that has been given in this thread is that it is natural and they are still photosynthesizing so keep the lights on even though it may seem they are not using the light. I would post pictures if I had a digi camera but I dont. Ive never experienced this before but I think my plants maybe outgrowing this as of recently they have started to go limp only an hour before lights shut off. Ill keep updated.

THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY and you the only other person to get my drift, so they do photosynthesise while limp/sleep, thankyou. so its not worth coinciding this with the dark 12 hours, which is all i wanted to know

so why do they go limp 2hrs into12hrs light then not 5hrs later, i dnt overwater she healthy 26" high & flowering . but to do this same time everyday ther must be an internal clock WHY DO THEY GO LIMP THEN & they do FFS

heat stress............do you use fans what are your temps, plants should not go limp, i dont care what strain it is, when you have ideal conditions your plants will do just the oppsite.

I think if your plants are falling asleep during lights on you need better lights.my plants do goofy shit during the day like you state, leaves curl when hot, droop when cold, stand up when hot and dry, get spots on them when i add too much nutes. but they are NOT sleeping on the job.they are probably telling you to water before 5:00, try watering as soon as your lights come on and see if they droop at the same time.I have to say this is some funny shit.
