I’m trying not to have to feed too much this run. Using FFOF with some fertilizer added. Hopefully with the added soil capacity in the grobucket i’ll be able to just topdress a couple times and that be plenty.lol. Hopefully. Gonna check out citypickers though 15 gal sounds good.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to read my bookish post, and answering my questions so thoroughly. I imagine this promix/megacrop one method may not work in my City Picker SIPs as well, but those are Grobuckets you're growing in right? It seems more suited, as you're using mineral Salts and the almost inert Promix like growing in coco.

I thought I saw signs of general deficiency and I gave a heavy feed with a concentrated tea.
Feed :
4 cups build a flower compost
2 cups craft blend from build a soil
2 cups of EWC from build a soil
Tea:
Brewed for 30 hours
2 gallons of Brita tap that sat for 24 hours
1 cup EWC from build a soil
1 cup earthworm compost from a neighbor
1 cup build a flower compost
60 ml effective microbe solution
1/4 cup unsulfered molasses
I thought I would give a full/heavy feed that would last until harvest. I think I over did it.
They have only been consuming (on the high end) 2 gallons/day.
I'm at day 43 of 12/12
Can I remove top soil?
Or is possible that if I only feed water that they will get back to a more optimal conditions?

Only 2 liters of tea was fed to each of the plants.
Sorry, lots of details. Big plants.
They are topping around 5'6" - 6'
They touch each wall of a 4×4 tent
It's 2 plants in 2 earthboxes

I lied about chopping. Waited an extra week and only took down the indica (supposed to be NL).
Got lots of mint and strawberry when cutting it up. Smells like choking, soaked-in cat piss with a touch of hay - now that it's drying.
Three hybrids still going, approx. day 93 from flip. May need another two weeks. (Don't mind the chronic phosphorous deficiency or light burn.)
Looking forward to re-balancing the ROLS!

Are yall using em-1 in your res? I use an ounce per gallon. Every water. It just dawned on me that I may be over applying.

I used to use it every time I filled the reservoir. Stopped when I ran out, never have since, no idea if it made a difference or not.

Do you traditionally top feed teas throughout a longer grow cycle? Is there a specific IPM to use or avoid with SIPS? Is there any difference between reamending the soil and using teas?

I'll throw in my two cents, though it may not help much.
I don't use teas. If you decide to, take care not to have runoff or the reservoir ppm spike will cause lockout. Regardless, plenty of us do use teas. They seem to get the most use by living soil growers looking to recharge microbes. @Richard Drysift is your guy there.
My IPM involves two tactics: EWC/living compost (for beneficial predators - while recharging microbes) and black plastic over the soil (breaks the gnat breeding cycle (or keeps it minimized and under the plastic) - while retaining soiltop moisture).
Reusing/reamending soil is great, since it can save money and keep micronutrients humming. My last grow made me realize my ROLS is out of balance, so I picked up a home soil test kit.

I also do not use teas in my SIPs. Sometimes I'll top-dress dry amendments or worm castings and water them in, but lately I've been trying to pre-load everything and grow modestly sized plants, so I don't have to add anything except water in the reservoir.
I don't think there's any specific IPM other than like GE said, putting plastic over the top helps to keep the gnat population down, and also keeps the soil moist all the way to the top.
Using teas will add microbes and whatever water-soluble nutrients you put in it, re-amending adds the raw (non-soluble) nutrients that can be broken down by those microbes to feed the plant. Re-amending is gonna be required at some point, but the microbes can also come from compost or worm castings that you mix into the soil.
SIPs are the shit, good luck with yours!

A clone of the frosty one is getting some cross pollen soon. I really liked the seed mother.
The male looks good enough so far I keep thinking I'll put pen to paper and start practicing breeding fundamentals.
I would just be working dozens instead of hundreds, so small-fry playing. The prospect of chasing homozygous dominants seems daunting, but my brain is giving me little choice for now.
