After having some trouble getting these White Widow seeds to pop I've finally decided to grow some mothers. Going to run them in dirt to make it easier to maintain them.

I have 2 white widows in the pots. Will keep the best one. I'm also making a mother for my Gorilla Glue (my harvest had a few seeds so I'm hoping for a repeat of my previous plant) and another mother for my Expert Seeds Zkittlez Glue. I really like the strain. Good heavy buzz like GG, but energy also. My now "go to daytime strain" for the moment.

GG and ZG are in the seed tray soaking in some water.

Well, looks like you skipped the "student" phase and went right to "master". Agan, hell of a job on these first few grows.
Thanks again.
Got a notice that today is my 1 year anniversary on RIU and my first grow. Definitely been some changes over the last year.
A little bit better than the no knowledge, bag seeds, cardboard box and flourecent shop lights I started with.

dude i thought i was gonna grow 8 sativas under a 200 watt cfl and ffof with ff trio(hydro not organic) in a 4 ft closet -_- i got no harvest. Took almost 2 years to actually get money for actual equipment and to really read and learn. 2nd grow was about an ounce from 2 plants. 3rd grow i changed grow style and had to trash the plant cause it was that bad. Finally committed, found my groove and my 4th grow gave me 2-3 oz per plant. We've all been a starter and some like me took abit to get here. Now I've got HLG QBs, Mega Crop nutes, 41 or so Mephisto strains(put atleast $1,200-1'300 into them) and high quality coco(royal gold tupar) and good autopot system. Hardly work hard at all.

Had a couple dings on one intake from shipping, but nothing a smooth jaw pair of channel locks couldn't fix.
Off to the parts store to get some things to Jerry rig this to one of my yield masters until I can get another.
More to come after installation.

Definitely not going to win any beauty pageants, but the Magnum XXXL Low Profile is up and running.
The continuity of the light distribution is insane. She has a 315w cmh in her atm. Can't wait until I'm running two of them @ 1kW. :)

I love days like today. Went to bed with 1 seedling and woke up with 3. It was a nice change to see after having so many issues with getting seeds to take root lately.
Speaking of which, that was ALL MY FAULT. It's been long enough since I popped one I forgot about the artist formerly known as "GLOVE CUP"
20200704_123243.jpg
(Now just "Cup"...)

1 night of putting that motherf@cker down and the seed took.
We'll just chock that one up as a whoopsie...

Anyway,
I have 3 White Widows now. 2 in the grow, 1 for a mother, and the Zkittlez Glue and Gorilla Glue moms both germinated and are now in their soil waiting to pop dirt within the next day or 2.

I also went ahead and changed out the bulb/ballast on the new Magnum hood. One slight thing they forget to mention is the process is a pain in the dick.
You have to remove all your ducting to get to a couple very tiny thumb nuts that hold the sides of the glass frame in place.
PITA. But fuck me, the hood is worth it :)
So, no more 315w CMH. She's now running a 6k 1000w MH @ 50% power with the other light off atm...

Have a shelf and a few other things ordered that I'm waiting on to fill in the mother tent. So, more to come as things progress.

Happy 4th all.

Mother/nursery tent is basically up and running. 160w of T12 flourecents to keep everything happy. Will be using my 315w CMH in there when I'm wanting growth. Hard to tell from the photos, but all 3 mother seedlings germinated. Happy with how it's working out.

Well that didn't last long.
Fluorescents are collecting dust again. Decided to go with a 600w MH since my CMH isn't dimmable.
6k MH running @ 250w. 18k Lux at the plants. Looking like I might end up somewhere around 78F/58RH if I can get it there. Just need a few hours for everything to equalize.

They girls didn't take long to let me know they like the MH and that I needed to lower it.
It's amazing what the right light and 12 hours can do.

I love these plants :)

The nursery tent was still getting a bit warm, so I tossed in one of my air cooled hoods. Got my temps to 75F and 54RH. Perfect.

The White Widows are loving life under 1kW.

Looking good. As far as the totes go, do you notice a big difference when the roots are allowed to expand more horizontally rather than mainly vertically? Reason I ask is they seem to take up a larger footprint in the tent than a bucket or one of these blue drums would.

I was using taller 4/5 gallon buckets but I ran into 2 problems.

Root bound...

And height...

So I switch up to these 10gal this run hoping to help both issues. This is my first run with them so unsure of the results.

Been messing around with my basement AC duct work.
Got the flower tent to 72F and veg @ 76F. Everyone seems to be enjoying it.

White Widow Day 15. She had a little to much light yesterday so I bumped things down to 750W @ 30K Lux.

I got a message from Amazon that my second Magnum hood got broken during shipping :(

So that got me to thinking.
I've been going about this growing all wrong.
This isn't Baseball.
You don't need to "swing for the fences" every time.

It's like Golf.
It's about finesse. That one perfect swing right when you need it.

On that note, I'm not getting the second hood. I've decided to run 1- 1000W light in my 4'x8'. It allows me to control temps/humidity and space to be able to give my girls a great environment.

So, I moved the little ones in there to save some electricity. Light is running @ 750W. 40k Lux seems to be the perfect number. Tent is 72F/48RH.

Love it when a plan comes together.
Plants are loving life @750W, 40k Lux, 73F, 48RH.

It would also seem that even though the EC is a 1.9, they're liking my new feed concoction as well. Thanks again for the help @TintEastwood
Day 17 for the larger seedling.

Well, I did it again...
I reordered the second magnum hood....

I was only going to run 1 light for 2 reasons.
1. The hoods are fucking expensive...
2. If you looked @ the tail end of my last run, I was having some pretty major heat issues.

I've been doing some rerouting of ac ducts, and have also removed ALL EXHAUST COMPONENTS from my tent. I've found the fan of course generates a lot of heat. But one thing that really surprises me is the amount of heat reduction I've gained by moving the filter to the end of my system and blowing through it instead of sucking in. That alone dropped temps by 4F.

Anyways, new hood will be here Tuesday and I'll be back to running 2kW.

Here's how the tent sits now running a 1000W MH
20200711_174117.jpg
Only a 2.5F increase over ambient room temperature. Think I figured it out :)

A good morning pic from the ladies
20200712_105630.jpg

The colder temps and feed seem to be working pretty well. I went ahead and canceled my second hood again after I realized you can't really fit 2x- 41.5" hoods in a 96" tent with ducting. So 1 it is.

FINALLY think I've got my heat worked out. Had to order another fan though...

For anyone interested, to run a 4'x8' with 2kW HPS and actually have control over the temp with ambient room temp 68F, it takes a 6" 440cfm fan pulling separate/sealed cool air through the hoods then vented to the outside,, plus....2- 8" 720cfm fans removing air from the tent and exhausted to the opposite/separate part of the basement to be recycled into the house hvac....

So yeah. Bout $700 in exhaust alone. :(
But, perfection doesn't come cheap I guess. At least its overkill and can be turned down to make things a bit quieter.
