I have a 3X3X8 closet grow and the temp is at 32 or 33, to high, can I use an A/C unit in the room and keep the room sealed and not vent or is there some other reason other then temp that I need to vent? I have co2 enrichment in the room and would perfer not to vent it out to save on cost.

thanks

I plan on using a portable unit i can just tap into the dryer vent that leads to the out side of the house

You can use the portable unit, just have timers or temp gauges that connect to your vents. Too much heat or humidity-> dump air. Too much CO2-> dump air. Too cold-> turn off AC.

No matter what he does if it's a single hose portable AC it will suck out all his co2 in a day or two, thats how those AC's work they take the air from the room. Co2 is best used in a sealed environment either with central AC or a mini split AC.

you can get dual chamber portable a/c units but they are more expensive. no air will leave the room though. kwikool and idealaire are the two companies i know.

Dual Hose AC still cycle about 10% of the air so he will still loose co2 not as much but some.. I have read growers who run co2 with window units successfully, I have never tried it.

not "dual hose" i'm talking about "dual chamber" that is where you lose air in an a/c unit. almost all portable and a lot of window units have a single chamber caus ethey use 1 fan for both chanbers so it can't be completely sealed. with dual chamber a/c units there is NO mixing of the air. you can get dual chamber window units a lot cheaper and even some window a/c unis that are more efficiently designed and sealed so they may not be dual chamber but you get little to no leak on them cause the fan runs constantly while the a/c is on so air can't push through into the other chamber anyway.

Yeah thats what I hear about window units, plus Home Depot and Wal Mart have sales on them because the summer weather is coming.. Good info thanks.

Do you have any other way to get to 26 or so C? Might be a cheaper way than an A/C. How much does the CO2 raise it?

I already cool my light which is a 1k light, I have dimmed it to 600 watts that gave me about 5 degrees and the cool tube gave me another 10 degrees, i have a rez cooler that keep the rez at 18-23 which also brought the room down a degree or 2. but thats where im stuck. Im finding that a/c units a power MONSTERS! If i could find another way to get about 5 degrees i would be GOLDEN! please by all means if anyone has any ideas i woulkd like to hear them.

Thanks for all the input!!

oh and the c02 is shot from a bottle so it doesnt raise the temp. I havent started to shot c02 yet because i just cant get the temp problem straight. But times up i need to solve this problem yesterday! Cant use a window a/c unit and adding another 1k to my curcuit won't work.

Well if you plan to use Co2 you can grow with co2 up to 90 degrees in temperature thats a fact. Back in the day before all the fancy grow equipment and fans growers were looking for a way to grow indoors under HPS lights and maintain temperatures, they ended up finding out you can grow with co2 with temps as high as 85-90 degrees.

That looks like the answer to my problem, if that is true I can hold my co2 in my sealed room at the current temps no venting needed? Does anyone object to this reasoning????

Sweet thanks for the help!!!

you can go up to 90 degrees but try and keep it around 86 if you can. that's the ideal temp. if you add co2 then just seal the room. use a carbon scrubber and just exhaust the air right back into the room. the carbon scrubber is for spores and odor.

I agree again with the Nug he's spot on. I have heard growers growing with temps up to 90 but I also hear to try and keep it at 85 degrees I run a sealed room with co2 and two 1000W HPS and I never go higher than 85.
