That looks like an f-4 phantom. Retired by the U.S. military years ago but sold to other countries.
Carne had the creepiest stories and was a great story teller.
Yes! It's an F4C a famous Wild Weasel hunter from Nam. The F-4's were the last "Muscle Car" of the jets. We have 4 are on static display (Edwards AFB). It was a really solid fighter and well loved. That thing could get you home. It's amazing to look at the displays and realize the cockpits were so simple in comparison to the all glass of today.
Then again I remember my UPT instructor telling me about his stick and ball cockpit LOL! Too funny. We all long for the familiarity of our youth. Yesterday I watched the F-22 and F-35 fly over. We have come a very long way in one lifetime.
They are around!!!!!Here and there

LOL yes they are! But today's truly fashionable SAM hunter wears an F-16 strapped to his ass. Tomorrow's youth will consider the F-35 de rigeur for all ass wearduring SAM hunts and so the story continues ;/
Technology has taken over.... My flight instructor, who as you might expect was old school since I'm no spring chicken myself, he used to refer to commercial pilots as Glorified Bus drivers...LOL...dam..I used to love that shit. The rush of defying the laws of gravity. Yes, I do miss my youth...my reflex on the yoke/stick and rudder and all the way around was at its peak. Everything today is glass and I think pilots today might have the tendency to rely to much on thier modern equiptment.....things get a little to relaxed on practicing with instruments.
It is amazing how far we have come...I have to fully agree....it is incredible to see the evolution of flight .....
I was wondering the same...where the hell is carne?
Yeah, what happened? I didn't know he was stalked. Or hated. I was just on his page today to see if he had dropped in. But no show.
