Well on closer inspection...
IMG_7631.JPGIMG_7632.JPG

There has apparently been some 'boy parts' in there somewhere.
Not really bummed about it, more curious as to which plant produced the pollen and what to expect from the seeds, as there are two different strains in there.

In other news...
IMG_7640.JPG

I have started 4 new strains, Pineapple Express, Blue Dream, Grape Ape and M99.
I will try 2 of them in my usual Flood and Drain, and 2 in the Hempy buckets.
They look a little rough at the moment. I am having PH troubles, but I'm working on it.

Cheers,
WillieP

They are looking fat Willie! Hopefully not too many seeds. It happens.

How's your garden doing Willie?
I've not been good about keeping up my journal of late, sorry.
There is a lot going on in WillieP's World.
The two plants in flower are taking way longer to fully mature that I thought they were going to. I was thinking the 2nd or 3rd week of Feb, and we are well past that. The MNTxAB is starting to show some amber, but the BB is still just cloudy. I just checked with a scope yesterday. (you can also see the seed development on MNLxAB)
IMG_7745.JPG
IMG_7762.JPG

The BB still has a ways to go I believe...
IMG_7747.JPG

In next crop news...
I am experimenting with some different growing techniques, I am growing the new plants in three different mediums. Soil. Hempy. and at the moment aeroponics. (those plants will be changed over to E&F)
These two M99 plants will be grown in soil for the Botany 357 class that I am taking.
IMG_7755.JPG
This shot shows the other 4 plants I have going. 2 in the aeroponic bucket, and 2 in 3 1/2 gallon hempy buckets.
IMG_7768.JPG
And a root porn shot just for fun.
IMG_7767.JPG

I am trying different things in an attempt to become a better grower.
(this bit is more for me that anyone else)
I believe that I would not use hempy starter solo cups again, they seemed to take off very slowly.
I have learned to soak the perlite in a bucket of PH'd water before use to stabilize it.
I would start with rapid rooters in the aeroponic bucket till the roots have developed to the point I would like, then transplant over to the other medium(s).
The hempy bucket method is still unproven, time will tell.

I need to take the time to catch up on you and Dr.'s journals...
Hope your grow is going well,
WillieP

PS
I just ordered the aluminum angle to build a couple DIY strip lights. There will be two of them, 2x4 at 254 watts each.

You're a busy guy! I'm terrible at keeping my journal up to date too so don't feel bad.

The first one looks really fat! Is it completely full of seed?

so now that you have three different methods going what's your favourite? I'm going to run one more grow in the buckets then I think I'm switching over to coco

Well boys and girls, the MNLxAB got the ax today.
I tried something a little different this round. I wanted to hang the plant whole, so I figured I would just stop watering her and see how that went.
I discontinued the watering/feeding 3 days ago, and chopped her today.
(still have a little to go on the BB)
Kinda looks strange with all the wilted fan leaves, she does have some pretty color though...
You can see that she is going to be seedy, but I only consume edibles anyway, so the seeds aren't a huge deal for me. (and maybe the seeds will produce something amazing someday.
Cheers,
WillieP

Hey LG,
Yeah she has seeds everywhere. (so weird)
And I really am not finding any seeds on the other plant. (so weird)
But like I just said, I don't smoke anyway, so for edibles it's not a big deal.

My biology professor friend has a new toy that will let me test for THC and CBD content.
Really curious what this strain's numbers will show.
I have ran my other three stains though his tester, and was rather surprised by the outcome.
My Durban Poison came in at 13% THC
My Kush 'n' Cookies CBD came in at 14% THC and 14% CBD
My Gorilla CBD came in at 8% THC and 9% CBD

As far as grow methods go, I'm a big fan of the one I started with.
It's a Ebb and Flow, with a remote reservoir.
The soil grow I really didn't give a fair chance with how small of containers I used, and I did end up with a better grow that I thought I would. I just really like the hydro side of things.
The hempy buckets do have there merit, I think I am just experiencing growing pains. If I can get this method dialed in, it seems amazingly simple. Time will tell.
I would suggest trying the Ebb and Flow. You already know the water side of things and its a couple of totes, a water pump and a timer. What could go wrong?? ;)
Always good hearing from you,
WillieP

Well it looks like I will have a butt pot full, (technical term), of feminized seeds.
Maybe this will be the perfect strain for me and I will be wanting a bunch of seeds!

It was pretty frosty. I trimmed (dry) over a mirror just to see...

I will run all the trimming over a screen to see what I get.

And the finger hash was just a bonus.

So I ran the leftovers over a trim screen and this is what I got...

IMG_7832.JPG

This will be the first time I get to play with kief, so I'm pretty excited.
I gave that little finger hash ball to a buddy of mine with the agreement that I would receive a full report of how it was in return.
I'm guessing that the same thing will happen with this, as I don't smoke.

Cheers,
WillieP

Nice results Willie! I must have been almost impossible to clean your thumb and index finger.

What does it cost to have your weed tested? Did you have to send a lot of flower?

Thanks LG!
Surprisingly no, just rubbed it together and it started to ball up.
The trichomes, on the other hand, were a bit more work to get to form a ball. LOL

The testing that I have been fortunate enough to do hasn't cost me anything.
I work at a University and I am friends with the professor that teaches the cannabis program.
Just this year they have been able, through a grant, to purchase the machine that tests for THC and CBD levels.
(It's really cool. Portable too. It's designed for field use.) ($15,000.00)
It just gives a simple percentage, not the total breakdown that a true lab would give you.
I know there are labs that you can send your weed into to get tested, but I have no experience with them.
Down here in the states it's a little complicated because it's still illegal on the federal level.
I know of people in California that send it into a lab in the same state, but I don't even think it's legal to mail it.

Sorry for the long winded answer, must be that canna tootsie roll.

Good Moring All!!
If you are celebrating today's holiday, then I wish you a Happy Easter!

It's been a bit since I last updated, I only had two plants in flower and they are both harvested.
The first was the Missouri Northern Lights X Atomic Bomb, and the second was the Bruce banner.
The one review I have received on the BB was, "top notch weed". so that was a good sign.

I am in the Veg period now, not much exciting going on.
These 4 plants are as follows, left to right.
Pineapple Express, Grape ape, M99, and Blue Dream
All are receiving the same nutrient levels, although 2 are in E and F, and 2 are in Hempy.
Interesting to see the stark difference in strains, especially between the PE and the BD.
Does anyone have experience with PE, is it always that leggy?
(same light and environment same as the others)

Other that that these are a few clones that I am taking for a friend that is just getting started.
You know, sharing the love...

Eeek! 15k is a little rich for my blood. It would be nice to know for bragging rights. I'm pretty sure the wedding cake I'm smoking is some of the most potent stuff I've grown. I found these guys a while ago, even $150 is more than I want to spend to find out my potency. Not sure if their numbers would be reliable or repeatable.

Your garden is looking great Willie!

LG,
I'm with ya, there is no way that I would have mine tested at $150.00 a pop.
I am so fortunate to be able to have mine tested at no cost.

I just had a friend offer me some Wedding Cake seeds and I instantly thought of you and @Dr.Amber Trichome.
I said, 'Oh I have friends that have grown that'...
Then I thought, 'Wow that's pretty cool, I've never even met these women, and my first thought was to call them my friends.' (Made me smile)

Cheers,

So just for record keeping purposes...
The little plants that I have started for my friends first grow are as follows:
AK-47 Seedling and Clone
Maui Wowie Seedling
White Widow Seedling
Super Silver Haze Clone
Blue Dream Clone
M-99 Clone
Grape Ape Clone
Pineapple Express Clone

Some are at different stages of development, but I have another 10 days till I turn them over, so I think it will be fine.
I wanted them to be able to start off well with healthy plants.
Cheers,
WillieP

We all know you can never have to many lights, right??
2 x 4, 14 - 3500K strips, 235.2 watts (actual power)
I'm going to make two of these for a 5x5 flower tent.
I will flower out a set of plants and see if I want to add more deep red or far red. This will be the first time using a UV light as well, it's a single 4 foot T5 lamp, and I will run it just a few minutes several times during the light cycle.
Cheers,
WillieP
