Hey fellow growers!
just started my first hempy grow. %100 perlite in 14L (3.6gal) buckets. Automated feeding setup, but since the seedlings are so small I’m hand watering cause I don’t think the halo rings watering reach them.
Got them under my quantum board light frame. 5x 288s, 2x Emerson effect boards. Only the centre 288 is on. Seedlings are loving the light.
Feeding them GH maxibloom (1/GH silica, GH calmag, GH rapid start roots, sourthern Ag fungicide (hydrogaurd) pondzyme.

currently deciding on what growing technique I’ll use. Not sure scrog or supercropping maybe.

That's a really sweet setup, plenty of light....what are emerson effect boards?I looked up the 288s by hlg...I'm a newbie to growing, not smoking though,lol.. and what brand of auto water device did u get,or u made one yourself?...
Did u add small fans to cool your qb?
Best wishes for a bountiful harvest!!

Hey mate thanks. With everything turned on and using a kill a watt meter it’s about 650w. Emerson effect is using red leds, deep red and far reds together help photosynthesis. A lot of growers who grow with quantum boards use them. The auto watering is just something else I built. Outside my tent I have a 60L plastic trash can, in that I’ve got some air stones and a little pump the recirculates my nutrients. That I have a large pump that pumps out my nutrients out into the tent. And around the bottom you can see a black plastic tube. That’s the main line and each pot has a line coming off it. Yeah I ended up adding the fans on the QBs. I live in Australia and it’s coming into summer and my tents in my brick garage off my house. So I decided to add the fans to help with heat. Thanks mate you too

I have some of the Peyote Critical too....The one I chose from 5 seeds to continue, has been cloned for a cpl yrs now....it gets purple calyx's which gives it moderate purple hue overall, regardless of temps....Many purple strains need cooler temps to bring it out....I have 5 strains running in 3.5 hempy buckets...Peyote Critical, Holy Grail, Bubble Bomb, Cinderella 99, and a Sour Lime....The Peyote Critical is everyones fav in my circle of friends....All 5 are VERY SPECIAL...I run a modified Hempy bucket where I have a pea pebble basin 2 inches deep with an air stone running in each bucket...I tried a few ways with Hempy and it gives me the best results...Drain to waste is already the easiest, most cost effective method out there...Thats all Hempy is but with the luxury of less watering since it has that 2 inches of water in reserve....Here is a cpl pics of mine 7 days into flower.....Also, a cpl peyote critical plants hang drying from last crop.....you can see the purple hue....garden is 5ft by 4ft with a 1000w HID on a light mover....light mover has ALWAYS been my favorite pc of equipment..btwn that and some defoliation, I get VERY uniform bud formation and max yields....Just added a 4th pic from a recent crop in full bloom....View attachment 4420092YTView attachment 4420086View attachment 4420087View attachment 4420088
Nice setup. Would you have some pics of your plumbing?

Ran hempys for my 2nd grow ever (currently on #3) using straight perlite. I was pleased with the results and found it easy to work with. I often have to travel for up to 5 days at a time and this has caused some concern with going too long between waterings. Luckily I've been able to have people stop by and water for me those times that I needed it but it's not an ideal situation.

Would going to a more traditional 70/30 perlite and vermiculite mix help get me some more leeway? I know an automated feeding system would probably be ideal but I don't know if I'm ready to go that far just yet.

With coco it will stay moist longer. I run 100% perlite hempy and have to water every 3 days in veg. Every 2 days in flower past the 3rd week. I tried coco and had nothing but problems. It may have been a bad batch or operator error. Either way I found coco to be unnecessary and only complicated things for me. Here's some pics of my setup. 1000w and 600w with digital phantom ballasts. I am planning to upgrade the 600 to 1000 after my next flower cycle.

100% perlite is incredibly easy to grow with. I use maxi grow and maxi bloom. Floralicious plus in flower. I'm adding liquid koolbloom to this flower cycle to see if it adds bulk. I add H202 at 3ml per gallon in my reservoirs to keep things clean.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this but that paneling is a breath of fresh air ..in an overly mylar world. ;-)

What PH are you watering with ? I'm planning to grow all perlite or perlite/vermiculite mix when I get set up. Gonna be a small cabinet grow.

Vermiculite caused me nothing but problems. I found no value in adding it, and will not use it again. I tried a cycle with coco and had issues with it I had never encountered before. Since going back to 100% perlite I have had trouble free growing. It's incredibly easy and I highly recommend it.

Finished my first hempy run a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sold. I did a 75/25 perlite/vermiculite mix, with about 1.5 gallons of medium in a 2 gallon bucket (after everything settled), using straight Megacrop, with no additives. Pulled 7.5 oz from one HSO Blue Dream plant that was half-dead when I flipped (wife's orders). No clue if that yield is above or below normal for hempy, but it's certainly much, much higher than soil. Color me impressed.
