Shooting at Dark Knight Rises

i agree with the second amendment and general gun rights, but you have to admit the US has a deep rooted problem with guns. It isn't acceptable that on such a powerful and developed country shooting spree's are common every half year or so.
In my opinion, what the USA has deep problems with is journalists. I am always astounded at the subtle posturing of guns as bad in news stories across the USA. I'm not sure why this is, but the great preponderance of editors prefer a message that individual gun ownership is at best an anachronism and at worst a plague. Consider that the stories in which a gun saved a life, or a family's, occur but aren't reported. It subverts the moral of the story. cn

i don't understand how someone has it in them to shoot another in the first place and take life away that doesn't belong to you. There always those situation of protecting your family and yourself in those situation but when it come to where u have to put a metal detector in a movie theater ........really? i mean fuck as a kid i watched batman all my life and now i gotta watch my back when i take my nephews to the movies. There that famous quote " guns don't kill people, people kill people" Which i agree with mostly........ i have one hand gun with a lock and safety feature that's stay in my house, now i'm contemplating carrying it on me 24/7. back to the situation at hand its a sad day in the US and make the US look horrible no wonder other countries hate us. my prayer goes out to the family's and friend of everyone single person in that movie theater. i sincerely hope the shooter is dismembered

Wanna know the really sad part? When i powered up my RIpUter this morning and saw the thread title, my immediate impression was "oh cool! Somebody hung with a camera crew." But no; it was the other kind of shooting. And not even smack. cn

What a terrible tragedy.

What really pisses me off about this story is the three-month old getting killed. For one, WHY IN THE FUCK was there a three-month old at the movie? Only inconsiderate assholes bring infants to a movie, and especially this one in particular as I assume it was a midnight showing of a pretty dark and loud movie. I'm not saying it's the parents fault that that kid is dead (because it's the gunman's obviously) but damn them anyways.

I just heard about it on the news a few minutes ago. Goshdamn you can't go anywhere nowadays without having to worry about getting shot. It's so sad, so very sad! My prayers go out to the victims and their families!
Save your prayers.. God hates us all. Or hes one sadist motherfucker.

Two different situations, robbers are primarily concerned with getting money not killing people. A postal shooter is concerned with killing as many people as they can whether they live or die.
yea they were completely different situations,The guy who shot the movie theater up had the element of surprise and was bent on killing as many people as he could.
Still though someone carrying would of made the chances of more people surviving much higher.

I carry everywhere and so does my wife. Stories like this are EXACTLY why we should be allowed to carry concealed weapons. If just one person had been armed and shot this POS there would have been more survivors. Even if I missed and was killed, I would be thankful for the chance to defend myself instead of being gunned down like a fish in a barrel. Drawing attention from the shooter instead of him killing the helpless would likely even save a life or two.

There were never stories like this in the days when everyone was armed. Sure, a murder occasionally, but never a mass murder like this. That asshole would be Swiss cheese in the cowboy days.

Bound to happen. Every single time I sit in a movie theater I think to myself how easy it would be for someone to walk in the door in the back and take at least 10-15 people out before anyone could do anything, especially a loud ass movie like Batman.

Here's a play by play of the incident from a person who was there from Reddit;

I agree. Shit like this makes me feel like I need to start carrying a gun around in public. Better to be protected than become a victim.

There are just too many stupid fucking people out there and the ones that aren't stupid are certifiably crazy. I would bet that only 1 out of maybe 35 people are walking around with a totally healthy mindset.

I can't quite grasp the argument for gun control, what do those people think will happen, all the criminals will just start abiding by the law? Uhh, I'm pretty damn certain that's why they're criminals in the first place... what the law is doesn't mean shit to them. That's also the only argument I've heard from that camp "less guns will mean less crime..", are there any more?

BTW, it's $500 to buy a CCW in CA + $250/every other year..

I've seen 3 posts from Reddit this morning, 3 different stories, all of them claim they were there. One guy actually got shot and posted a picture of his tshirt, bullet right through the shoulder, shirt covered in blood. Looked real to me. That's the one I was looking for to post but I couldn't find it in the minute or two I was looking

Wow, this world is beyond repair, people have no regard for this world or human life anymore. All because some dickskin wanted to be remembered for something, he should be hanged by fishhooks in his back in solitary confinement for life without parole with daily beating on his nutsack with a mace.
Have faith in the apocalypse, hope its something cool like zombies, it would be a good stress relief.

That's why I do have a HCP. And when I don't feel like carrying my firearm I have a knife at all times. I'll gut a mofo in a heartbeat. And from what I understand is that all the people that were in the theater thought it was sound effects at first.

Yeah, I heard the same thing, that's probably what I would think too. I also heard the guy was wearing body armor, so not sure if a sidearm would have done much but give away your position..

At least they got the motherfucker in custody. Instances like this make me question my own views on capital punishment, and I'm against it in every single other instance, but this is different. This guy is a domestic terrorist, people in that theater will be fucked up for years and it's as clear as day who the suspect is.
