How will savvy patients be able to order from multiple LPS? They can't. They have to send their ORIGINAL Rx to their LP of choice. If an LP fulfills an order based upon receipt of a COPY of an Rx, then they will soon be shut down by HC upon their first audit. You can't take your Rx for Viagra to multiple pharmacies...the first one takes your little paper and don't give it back. Prevents "pharm-hopping." If a patient wants to leave their current LP, they need to have the LP return the original RX to either the patient, or the prescribing physician. The LP then has to contact HC to inform them that a patient has rescinded their sole LP contract with you....i think within 5 business days. This makes me believe that they will have a specific database for keeping record of who is buying from where.
Should patients have their doctors write multiple prescriptions that add up to the total g,s per day, with the idea of using each prescription at a different Lps? That would be medical fraud on behalf of the doctor. Keep in mind what the scenario would be if it were OxyCodon and not mmj. Doctor gets his pee-pee spanked, and the LP loses a client.
How does that affect the label on the bottle that the police may look at? Read the LABELLING section of the MMPR. All details that must be on the label are very well defined.
Does the doctor write you a note explaining the total prescription, that the patient should carry with them for police check? Not sure what the new MMAR permit looks like....it should state the amount that they are allowed to have as a maximum. So if your Rx is for 40g/month, and you get causght with 41g or more, then you as a patient are in violation of the MMAR policies and risk losing your excess meds. The LP will be contacted by local authorities to examine your Rx and shipment history to see where/who is at fault for the excess possession.
What about an LP ordering from another LP or from over seas, 150 gram shipping limits are ridiculous? Do LPs have to personally pick their orders up to get around this?
Different rules apply. Read the IMPORTING and EXPORTING sections of the MMPR. I can't imagine ordering 100Kg of meds from the netherlands and opening thousands of 150g packages. LOL You need to apply for special import/export permits. My problem would be getting my stuff from Montreal port to Calgary without an overnight stop or two. From what i have been told by Controlled substances, is that you cannot stop over night without putting your shipment into a secure facility. That means either getting to know all the Shoppers Drug Marts between you and the nearest port-o-entry, or flying with your product. I don't want to fly with 100Kg of dope in a cardboard box getting handled by punks getting paid $9.95/hr LOL
