Do any AZ growers defoliate?

Do you guys or anyone that posts here defoliate leaves?? I been looking into it like "lolli-popping" but man that shit scares me. Then I see novice growers pulling nice nugs with defoliating. I just am scared to do it plus my mentor and the grow bible by Jorge Cervantes is highly against it.

I can't see the benefits...

I cut the fan leaves off gradually all the way through flower, and before flower ill cut alot of the lower larfy shit off. I have not done lollipopping though, seen pics and it looks scary. The bottom 2/3 is completely bare with a huge "donkey dick" on top. Scares me to much to go that far with it but the results speak for themselves

If you do it too much you'll stunt the top and have tall sides. It also depends on the genetics you are working with.

I say do it! Your canopy will thank you. Your yield will go up and your density will also improve. If you work with nice sized plants (24-36in) lollipopping the bottom 2/3 before flower is standard practice. Major defoliation days 16-20. NUGS NUGS NUGS

Imo its a fine line your walking when you do it. If you do too much you'll fuck it up but if you do it enough the results are amazing

I agree with this guy it should only be done on bigger plants like the ones I grow.. My plants are always big because of long veg times.

i lollipop in a scrog screen works for me great. helps reduce scruff weed...

Dude. don't lolly. seriously. there is no grow method i haven't looked into and tried at least once. when ever i see a lolly grow now i facepalm! leaves are good. a nice little trim on the bottom is all i ever do. there is never any reason to grow trees like that one of yours i saw! if you have to veg for a long time, keep them under control with lst and or topping. i've vegged sativa dominants for up to 3 months and keep them below 4 feet! wide and bushy is good!
