Do You Accept The Theory Of Evolution?

the missing link thing goes like this: there is a gap between thing 1 and thing 2. we find thing 1.5 to fill that gap. now there are two gaps, between 1 and 1.5, and between 1.5 and 2. we find things 1.25 and 1.75 and now there are 4 gaps....and so on and so on.

while the record is more complete than ever, the skeptic will say that it is less complete than ever, as it has more gaps.

Yep. It's a game of wack a mole. No matter how many new steps are discovered between chimps and people, they can always just claim a new gap. The fact that there are several species in between the two at all is the proof. The missing link idea is purposely designed to keep evolution in question no matter how much proof exists. It's all done so churches can trick people into obeying them. If churches has an ounce of integrity they'd make an effort to make their beliefs fit in with science rather than continuing their thousand year war against science. The fact that they would rather fight science is proof that their primary motivation is to control people.

bro, the vatican has accepted the 'theory of evolution' i had to do a discussion about it in one of my classes...

Good for them. Hopefully other christians will do the same so we can stop this nonsense about creationism.

If religious people were smart they'd adopt evolution as gods work. Claim that evolution is part of gods plan. I'd think they were full of crap still, but I wouldn't find it objectionable. I'd be happy with the fact that they aren't trying to fight science.

yea, the pope pretty much said they accept it, but they also believe that through God's work, was evolution able to manifest itself... I mean, i really dont like the vatican and i think most of what they have to say are lies... I believe in God as my creator, but im not naive enough to not believe in adaptations...< my version of evolution...

Science belongs in school. Religion belongs in church. If we teach creation in the schools then whose version should we teach? Buddhist, Mormon, Protestant, Muslim, Native American? What right do we have to force our beliefs onto someone else? The creation story of the Navajo has humankind moving through four worlds before reaching this one. In each one they evolved into a more complex life form. Who is to say which creation myth takes precedence?

Teach faith at home and in church. Keep it out of the schools. I damn sure don't want my little nephews and nieces learning about the Trinity. It's not Biblical and has no place in Christianity. Catholics will tell you different.

creationism is not even a scientifically testable theory. if it gets taught in school, then so must flying spaghetti monsterism, as it is equally valid and plausible.

i belive in what i can see..theories well good..dont hold much water until proof is offered...people keep finding things that rewrite what had already been written in stone...i belive in sasquatch tho lol

Hindus. In an abstract way, the hindu theory is sort of scientifically correct. When you die, you decay, and your body is broken down into nutrients and recirculated through the food chain. Bacteria eats you, larger micro organisms eat them, their waste becomes plant food, then a cow eats the plant and that then becomes part of the cow. So in a way, you do become part of their sacred cows.

If you had to pick one, might as well go with the one that has a basis in reality even if it might not happen exactly as they say it does.

That's because it's mythology, not science. It has no more merit than the stories of Amun, Thor, Zeus, or Jupiter.

Reincarnation, depending on the meaning. may exist in certain ways too!! :) We will only know if the light stays on when our body goes limp when the time comes. >:O

I don't, but I wouldn't say it was impossible.

I gotta say, Atheists are run a muck in this thread right now.:joint:

agnostic here!

my belief that evolution is a theory which will not be replaced (likely it will not even be modified much) does not entail that no higher force exists.

hell, there may be something behind those "random" genetic mutations that get naturally selected by their environments ;)

as for now, i am of the belief that we don't know and possibly CAN'T know

i am also a decompositionalist. i believe when we die, it's over and we rot. so make the best of your time on this paradise.

sounds good, so no reincarnation for you? cool!

what relativity? you believe in that?

anyone?

what about those people that say they were a bird in their past life? also, have you ever read the divine revelations of hell? its a good book! it is available free online, just google it.

Their nuts... like Miss Cleo except more nuts because even she realized she was a loon and started raping peoples wallets with her nutty talent.

The only reason people don't accept the theory of evolution is because they're ignorant of it. That's the bottom line. If you learned about it and understood it correctly, there would be no other option but to accept it. There is no other explanation for the way scientists can predict things about nature based off of previous findings in the field unless the theory was correct.

yeah i think if people actually knew how it worked theyd believe it for sure. theyd also need to know about genetics and the process by which genes get passed on to fully understand, IMO

i thought id put these here
