Recharge day ! ....

Goji started showing a bit more hunger as she flowers ( leaf fade ) , so as expected ... time to top dress.
Still tap 6.5 ph as water in after dressing. Flowers are smelling sweet and stacking up with spiky pistils.

2 KKP were moved to flower and also got top dress to keep transition and preflower on track .
Some minor pistils are already showing and expect them to push forward soon.
Really loving all of the green since not shoving synth bottles down their throats to grow.

Great White will be “ watered “ in after this recharge has begun to dry again.

Ugh. Ya know, I heard people say this but bought into the hype and got the fox farm trio to use with ffof. My plant is actually looking healthy now but I had to top dress with lime and went through a lot of ph down when I switched to flower. The calmag deficiency came on so fast I had to do daily foliar applications. Even grow big and tiger bloom at half strength was giving my 3x3 plant a touch of nute burn.

A little update on the KKP after recharge.
One of them went full male ( and will use pollen ) plant was put in separate area to further grow pods.
However the others have been flipped about 4 days ago. I was satisfied with the LST and it was time to get the flowers moving.
They have begun to sex out and stretch a little so far. Color is still uniform with the FFOF top dress and water.

Had to re-up on some more great white since I had only the 1 ounce container and got the 4 ounce .

Prepping SOLO Cups :

Here is a simple method to help “ condition “ seedlings and sensitive strains to FFOF. Instead of just planting, I begin to introduce a small charge into a mix. NO ADDITIONAL NUTES are required for this SOLO grow start. This is where some growers screw up a seedling by concocting a overly thought feed for such a small container .... I even read a journal about a guy checking run off from a solo cup !

This needs nothing But water , and light. Very little water will be needed for this cup. Misting the seedling also hydrates it.
All I am doing is creating a plug ready for more FFOF in a larger container. Great white is the magic ... tempers shock , transplant and you can have receiving container pre-dusted in plug hole to further stimulate root growth. This is my method especially for autos as I’m trying to root it out as quickly and as efficiently as I can for it’s short veg stage.

Solo prep for straight seed / plug / rock wool / peat pellet / clone :

Im not trying to reinvent the obvious ways to plant just a simple , easy way to get plants to acclimate .

First, this uses a clear and red solo . Some growers like to peep on the roots sometimes. The red solo will be the sleeve to hinder
light to roots. Both are holed for drainage.

These are 2 Sour Stomper x Purple Gorilla Autos ( ready to cup ) or plant.

One baggy contains FFOF with extra perlite . Second baggy contains EB Stone with perlite ( you can substitute Promix, Dr.Earth, Happy Frog , etc . ) Peat Based

First , I grab 1 handful of FFOF , tap cup to settle down then do other cup.

9B4F191B-C9A5-4D91-A330-8FED4ABF21BE.jpeg

I take a small scoop of great white myco ( recharge / MYKOS / or your choice )
and tap a bit across the top of FFOF BASE of both cups ( or your number of cups used ).

Then a mist a bit of moisture from a spray bottle ( water is bottled water source )
( I used this instead of tap “ initially “ as not to kill the myco with chlorinated water ).

12372472-DB0C-4EBD-978A-0CEFB93C4239.jpeg

Finish cup by filling with lighter Peat based mix ( eb Stone or whatever ) .
I do a simple watering via spray bottle to dampen plug and surrounding top soil.

Then you get happy plants to enjoy.
REMEMBER the cup’s medium will feed the plant ...... no additional Nutes needed.

Once plant reaches to point of transplant , I begin using my tap sources for water.
PH 6.3-6.5 .

Update :

Solos have been transplanted into 1 gallon bags running same FFOF / GREAT WHITE / EB STONE MIX.
I moved them after a set of leaves began to set and because I lost the strawberry diesel and 2 KKP that went male ..
( grrrrrr :cuss:) So I carried on with the cups. I subjected one of those males to an experiment.... I cut off the main stalk and left lowers to see how resilient
that plant was .... It continued growing in spite of getting chopped in half and kept a little pollen from it.

But so far the top dressing has been trucking along for the rest of my plants .... GOJIBERRY and one KKP female / solo cups.
Added a little calmag to supplement as some led grows need it at times. But still running 6.5 ph. Myco is now mixed into
top dress and watered in at same time when recharging ... GOJIBERRY getting hungrier so I am top dressing that once a week.

Some minor fade to the older leaves but not anything to unusual since it’s in mid flower.

Remaining KKP IS flowering along and showing some purps in color with cooler night temps. And smells like earthy fuel.

SOLOS : 2 Sour stomper x Purple Gorilla ( auto ) and 2 The Deputy ( greenpoint Seeds ) / one in grow bag one still in cup.

So far so good other than slightly cooler than wanted night temps ( 68° ) and will introduce some heat to eliminate
possible uptake problems.

Beautiful just Beautiful! I see your pots are plastic bags, I love using those for my veggie garden, when the plants are starting to outgrow the bags I just slice the bottom off with my box cutter, dig a little hole in the ground and they grow in the ground to maturity!

What’s the final size grow-bag you using on your auto flowers?

How are things coming along with this grow?

Do you water to run-off? or how much water do you use for each plant? It seems like a silly question but If you have an answer I’d certainly appreciate it

Thanks & have a great day!

If I top dress with more soil and ewc, should I leave less soil at the top of the pot to add it in, or should I just work it in like a dry amendment?

Doing things this way and using FFOF has brought me nothing but joy in the form of clean and easy to smoke herb. I spend Saturdays collecting bull kelp. I added some bone meal to a grow a couple of times. A little molasses a couple other times. If I need cal/mag I get out my jar of fried finely powdered egg shells and add some vinegar to it and let it sit for two weeks until the vinegar is gone. Teaspoon in a gallon of water. I never really need to use cal/mag when my medium is FFOF. I ph my tap water. That is all the "pseudo science" I use. The tap water I use gives me all the cal/mag I need too. Free is easy. Easy is Better. Better is what you get when things are free and easy.

@Budzbuddha nice thread.Great info,thank you.
I want to try this for a photo, flower from seed in a 1-2gal fabricpot.
I have Recharge, Athena biosis, and just picked up a sample of some Xtreme Garden Myckos from my local brick and mortar,so my bennies are covered.I also have a bag of ewc,it's a few years old,but is still moist & fluffy in its storage tote.
They have the 2 cu.ft. bags of FFOF for $17ish bucks. They also carried the HF and LW I almost grabbed it after reading this thread yesterday, but wanted to see what you thought.
I'd like water only grow to experiment with.

edit* I know you stated in your OP you use 1gals as well.Im not sure if photos would require more root space than an auto or not.If that makes any sense.

How did everything turn out? I started two autos using your method of FFOF and perlite and great white. So far so good I think see my pictures they are both northern lights auto flowers from seedsman. I have followed one of your methods almost exactly I think... I added some calmag about every other watering, just plain tap water and ph down citric acid to 6.5. I got carried away and added some silica once or twice. But this round is going great I think!! The plants are almost 4 weeks from sprouting. What do you think? I’m also top dressing with the Ffof&perlite mix.

I should mention this is my first indoor grow, In a closet! Until I can build something bigger;) I am also just doing LST I’m too scared to try topping the autos....

Looks good .... I like that stalks are green and uniform like yours when you realize the soil can feed naturally over Dumping Nutes on top of them. I recommend adding a teaspoon of myco once a week to keep them thriving. Silica helps strengthen cell wall and aids in pest protection ( toughens plant ) and for temperature issues.

You can always play around with the layering ( soil types ) , Kelloggs garden , Black Magic , Promix , etc.

I will update on some plants later . LST always works without stressing .

These are 2 auto on layered mix ... 2 different shapes same strain .... go figure lol.

It’s 40 days from sprouting. Do you use this same simple method on photo period plants? Thank you

Yes .... continue a top dress or “ tea “ with FFOF and continue to recharge as needed. Especially for extended veg stage like photo. Here is where you can follow how “ hungry “ or on point the plant is. I get little tip burn at times but nothing as wide of a problem as with “ liquid dumps “ into medium.

I also began adding kelp / seaweed during flowering as it bumps flowers without boosters.
I also began adding EWC to further condition soil mixes. Earth worm castings really make the plants sing.

As far as bags , i only use certain sizes ( due to space limitations) but have transplanted fully rooted 1 gallon bags into larger plastic containers for bigger plants.

Beautiful green plants ! This why i looked at JUST the medium doing the work NO artificial help in feed. Look at those fibrous stalks ! I think you probably will agree its a hell of alot easier to ammend soil as needed over measuring bottles and figuring out nute ratios. Keeping things simple.

“Tea“ from FFOF? Could you elaborate on that? I top dress with the FFOF, but never heard of a tea with it....Thanks!
