The only thing you have to do with the timber grow lights is screw them into the metal cob hangers. It don't say on there but they have an adjustable frame for 20 bucks that they will send you. So for 300 watts of 3950cxb 6 cobs ran at 50 watts is is 620 bucks . So I could run 600 watts of cobs in 2 of those kits for roughly the same price as one of your plug and play lights with a lot more watts ? Why do you think the other is better ? I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just asking why that light is better ?
I didn't say pre-made was better. I said it was the same price as the DIY kit.
It's plug n play w/ warranty for the same price is all I'm saying. Not knocking DIY kit. I appreciate a good retro-fit design to my room too.

I believe a light should have a veg & flower mode. Each aspect of your grow is just as important as the next. I feel it's important to have the proper spectrum for veg & for flower. 35k veg is a compromise in my eyes. But those are nice lights for a small space & modular.
I'm all about plug n play w/ warranty myself. Same price or less too.

I'm just going down all avenues to find the right road. I appreciate your input . I don't mean to be rude or come off wrong in any way .

Naw, it's the best medium ground to use one K-temp. But is perfect for someone trying to veg or get their turn around faster. It will grow taller, faster, cutting veg time down between flowers.
5k would be your average best veg K-temp. Providing you with more natural results.
65k will give slightly different results, depends on what your looking for. Burple or enhanced w/ white at the right mix is what I like. I go for the bud-sites, bushes, & mass root development.
Almost the same veg & flower light spectrums apply. Warm n cool.

One thing to keep in mind. Plant morphology, the more red in the spectrum the stretcher your plants will be in veg... I. E lower k rating.

So. 3500 is a compromise, it will grow slightly stretchier plants in veg, while still flowering well. If stretchy plants don't bother you, then heh cool. If they do bother you, you probably don't want to go that route.

At 3500 the nodes are slightly tighter during the veg cycle and does lend itself to flipping early in scrog since there will be more growth tips going into 12/12. 3000K generally produces larger fan leaves and fewer but thicker branches. 3500K will take slightly more pruning but the branches pruned under 3000K will be larger. I haven't noticed a difference in stretch between 3500 and 3000 during the first weeks of 12/12. I haven't noticed a difference in the end product.

Hey guys, long time lurker and first time poster here!

Used to hang around a lot at icmag but @Growmau5 videos and posts slowly but surely made me get an account here. Enough drivel, time for my question!

I'm doing a first time grow come September, and I've been scouting for info about all kinds of gear and info before I actually started. It's been about 14 months now and I felt it was time. So I've gotten a 4x5 (120x150cm) tent already, with the ventilation kit coming in later this month.

As for the lightning, I've decided to go with @Growmau5 prepackaged deal from cutter (http://cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut2993) which I've calculated should be more than sufficient for the space I'm growing in. I'm going with a total of 10 CREE 3590's, but my economy only allows me to order one package at the time. I'll get the 2nd one in time for flowering.

I'll be growing SS AK-47 (might be another strain, but indica dominant) in a 12/12 SOG (I know there are other ways, but it fits me and it's the kind of growing I want to do) and I need help with the distribution of what kind of spectrums I should get. The ones I can choose between are:

2700K BB Bin
3000K CB Bin
3500K CD Bin
4000K DB Bin
5000K DB Bin
5700K DB Bin
6500K DB Bin

So my questions are as following (tl;dr)

1. How many of which spectrum should I have to get a very generic and good overall spectrum? I was thinking a 1 x 3500K + 1 x 5000K + 8 x 4000K from what I've read, but I have zero experience so please chip in if you have any good advice! So best setup for my 1st order (5x) and then a total for when I receive my 2nd order (10x total).

2. How should these be spaced (building the module myself) in order for maximum efficiency in a 4x5? I reckon I'll need some space to move around, trim, and water etc so I'll probably only fill the tent to 90%.

3. Is there any limit to what I can have in my room (power outlet) if my fuse box has 16A for the kitchen and couple of 10A fuses for the remaining rooms? I've tried reading up on this and from the math I did it should suffice (2300W). Only thing using power in the room will be my tent and another dimmable light.

As I previously mentioned I have no actual experience with the actual lights nor growing. Appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks in advance.

PS. Forgot to add. I live in northern Europe so we have 230V coming out of the wall sockets, not sure if this makes any difference but more information can never hurt!

hey there. i am working on a 10 cobber for a 4x6 for a buddy of mine. this is what i came up with based on the aluminum sheet I had on hand. its a 24" x 52" panel designed to fit up to 11 x 120 mm pin heatsinks.

oh yeah. he is going with ( 8 ) x 3500k CD and (2) 4000K in the center. he may add the 11th cob later on.
