Hey guys I have a 4x8 gorilla grow tent and I want to fill the space with 3950 cxb cobs. I was reading that you need 50 watts per sq ft of space so if I'm running the cobs at 50 watts each then I would need 32 cobs for a 4x8 ?? Am I wrong ? That is a stupid amount of money and light to fill that small of a space . Timber grow light recommended 1000-1200 watts for a 4x8 so I'm confused because that would be 24 cobs for a 4x8 . Still ungodly expensive ? Any input that isn't way over my head is greatly appreciated here .
-Just a thought. This is what I would do: If you were to run your COBs at 75% instead of 50% you could reduce the amount of cobs you'd have to buy by about 1/3. Your yields will more then make up for any so-called loss in efficiency! Just have to use slightly bigger heat sinks & have plenty of air circulation.
Good Luck!

The difference between afn and riu is a matter of respect. state your case, present your arguments and be done with it! I don't have to wade thru 10 pages of shit talking, chest thumping adolescent 30yr old, know-it-alls, to get one page of useful information like we do here.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of good people here, BUT, rui lets the assholes run rampant and ruin it for others. They need mods who do their job and let the rest of us have an intelligent conversation! Isn't that what we're suppose to be doing???
I totally agree. It's redic here. The mods should get rid of the NG's. An administrator already offered to handle it but I refused to give names. Not like them though. They snitch every chance they get.

Heh heh, youre funny! Run along now little boy, run along.
Guy, kick rocks, you have absolutely NOTHING to offer anyone. All you do is like terrible posts by NG harassers & occasionally talk shit you know nothing about. You guys should start your own thread called we think we know shit but don't grow so we're guessing using others misinterpreted data-sheets. Half of which seem to be made up by uncreditable, inexperienced hagglers & hecklers. Or by an RIU vendor whom makes this shot up to persway people to believe their non-sense.
They use claims like most efficient grow-light. That's gotta be the worst claim I've seen thus far from a vendor here. Especially when it's almost impossible to find any results by RIU growers using said most efficient light! LMFAO! I feel so bad for the poor people who believe this shit. Lies & deception w/ a bunch of NG's backing these claims w/ no light or plants. Redic.

The kits that I was looking at have power supplies to run each cob at 50 watts. But I guess that I could remove 1 cob from the set leaving 5 cobs and run them a little higher. Maybe buy 1 extra power supply ? Thanks for the advice. I need it

your missing the point dude, if your run 600w of anything your paying for 600w but if your running 600w of cxb3590 @ 700mA then your getting almost twice the amount of usable light and half the amount of heat than you would get from 600w hps
If 600w hps is 35% efficient then 65% is heat. You can almost reverse that with Cobs

The outlay is large but if you can pull almost 2g per watt instead of 1g or less then they will pay you back in a few harvest.
I use 600w hps too so don't think I am biased towards cobs. Its just math.
Thank you. That makes sense :)

I've been avoiding this thread, but it's nice to see you taking the high road and not spamming hatred. I'm sure the newbies appreciate your contributions, as you've said.

On a deadly serious note, it's kind of uncool to call a brother "ghetto ass", and somebody who probably lives in the projects and has never been to a nice neighborhood.

Not to mention "bitch ass", "cunt" and...sigh..."faggot". Come on man. Tell us more about what moderators should ban people for again? Grow the fuck up.
Friends with real I suppose. Didnt read what I replied to?
