Did you read the rest of the thread by chance? Taken on its own it makes me think of a patriot and really nothing more.

$10 per hour starting for someone with no experience isnt such a shit wage. That is $1600 per month. Someone can rent an apartment, have a significant car payment, phone, internet, cable and pay for groceries on that income.

What do you recommend for a starting salary $30???
that is $1600 a month IF you are lucky enough to get 40 hours, and there is no accounting of tax in there.

in certain parts of the country, $1600 a month won't even rent you a studio apartment.

i am lucky to be able to split rent and bills with my wife, my monthly tab for that alone comes out to $900-$1100 depending on time of year (heat costs about $200 a month to run) with no car payment (unlike many). that leaves $500 to take care of EVERYTHING else. budget $10 a day for food, and you are left with $200 a month.

that kind of pay leaves the average american one injury, one blown transmission, one broken furnace away from going into debt.

just saying, $10 an hour is shitty.

The fact is that unions in America are dying off. When they were strong, American workers received a living wage. Now that they are dying more Americans live in poverty. You can point out the faults of unions all you want, and there are many. But the fact is that American workers are better off with them than without them. We really do not need more laws that undermine them.

You pathetic excuse of a man. If you cut out lunch and eat out of garbage cans just 2x a week. You can save enough money for your retirement with that kind of money. To complain about 10 bucks an hour. Please!
I cannot wait until Ron Paul wins election and we get rid of minimum wage. Because that is the only thing holding wages down. Well that and those sick mafia unions that ruin it for the average working man.

You really are one sick twisted loony liberal always crying about this and that.
I am totally disgusted by you.
Fucking socialists
You are never going to put your kids through Harvard being the lifetime french fry guy at McDonalds...

Being an American means equal opportunity, not equal outcome.

So are you saying that the relationship between the business owner and the employee should not be consensually set between them, but that a third party should intervene?

Being forced to participate in a Union doesn't seem like it ensures any "rights"...it seems like it takes away an individuals choice to make an independent decision.
+1

If people want to join a union, I say let them make that choice for themselves, if not, they should also be awarded that choice.
We have too much state and federal government interfering in our business imo.

$1600....... your forgot to subtract taxes, and any other with holdings like maybe health care......... $10.00 hour is more like $325.00 a week if you do not have healthcare.

So $1300.00 a month

Phone $40-80
cable $50-125
1 bedroom in Denver $800
There is $1000.00 without health care or a car payment or groceries. So $300 a month for a car payment, groceries and healthcare...... lol

I really wonder WTF kind of bud some of you smoke, I have some killer shit and it doesn't make me all stupid like that.

It is not between one employee and the employer, it is between king and peasant. You have no rights in the workplace period, they are kingdoms and you are a serf, paid well or not paid well.

You have one right and one right only, to work for them or not to work for them, the current way it is setup in this country is many are kept afraid.... what happens if I get sick, what if I do not kiss enough ass.... can I still feed my kids....... so freaking ignorant........

Studio in Phoenix = $400/mo.

Do you expect this guy to be going to vegas every weekend?

Why does every job in America have to support 1 single person living in an expensive area of the country for their starting job regardless of the economics of the product or service involved?

That isnt capitalism it is socialism.

In a capitalistic society a person gets an idea for a product or service and offers people jobs based on how much they can add to the eventual outcome. It is not based on some sort of artificial welfare program.

A fast food worker is never going to be able to afford healthcare for a family of 4 unless you want your burger to cost $16.00.

Your kind of thinking inhibits job growth and creation and encourages an entitlement society.

No, this is how I grew up in the 60's, 70's and 80's and all was fine, until Reagan fucked it up and got all you youngins' brainwashed..........lol

The middle class was paid fairly and CEO's only made 30x average workers wage. Now instead of paying fair wages to the middle class they give themselves raises.

If you are stupid enough to keep on drinking that kool aide you suck down so be it and good luck.

Yes, everything was just peachy keen when you were a kid and the problems only started when you began noticing them... You grew up...

If raising the minimum wage was the answer then just raise it to $50.00 per hour and be done with it.

Businesses do not exist to provide a living wage, they exist to make a profit off of the sale of a product or service. No business, no jobs, 0 income. But hey, you feel better about yourself for not having a job at a much higher wage than before. Good for you.

That is what it means. You have the right to work..Union or no Union. Don't have to belong to it.
Look, Union"s a long time ago were truly need. At the beginning they truly were designed to help the employee. These days they are just as dirty a the politicians.
I was once was part of the CWA for 16 years. GO, Union..GO, GO, CWA (communication workers of america)..you piece of SHIT!

The Union's uses your dues for what ever they want.
When election session comes around.
The Union decides on who your dues go to in support.
But, do I have a say. On whom I would like to support... NO

I could rant about this all day. But, not worth anymore effort.

Maybe you should start a company and then you could decide to pay people lots of money if that is what you want to do.

back in the 60s you'd get a starting wage the equivalent of 75k and job security that lasted your whole life...

hell my grandfather was a mechanic and he had enough money to buy property, build a house, open 4 businesses, and put his kids through college......

The inflation of the currency has alot to do with the falling standard of living. You are probably already aware but fiat money and hocus pocus banking games has caused much of the decline.

Did fast food workers at the first McDonalds make $75K a year or are you only referring to good manufacturing jobs in the 60's? Mechanics don't start at $10 an hour in RTW states either.

no it hasn't. it's the ability of corporate barons to convince us that cost of living increases in wages are unsustainable and that for us to be OK we should pretty much get less while they get more.....

Inflation has had much to do with it, along with free trade practices (Which aren't free at all), offshoring of jobs and a more global market where the person willing to work for the least will normally get the job.
