How about some facts...

Vitamin E acetate is a key culprit in the vaping illness outbreak
The sticky chemical has been found in samples taken from people who got sick or died from vaping-related illness.

As the outbreak of vaping-related illness that has sickened more than 2,000 people across the country and killed at least 39 continues, it’s been clear that THC vape products are playing a major role.

But what hasn’t been clear is which specific product or ingredient might be at fault. Finally, on Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a “breakthrough” in the agency’s investigation.

Vitamin E acetate, an oily chemical added to some THC vaping liquids to thicken or dilute them, has emerged as “one very strong culprit of concern,” said Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at a press briefing.

The chemical is a synthetic form of vitamin E, and it’s used — safely — in nutritional supplements and skin creams. But it isn’t safe to inhale. Sticky and honey-like, it can hang around in the lungs, health officials said, interfering with how they function. Samples taken from 29 patients in 10 states, for a CDC Mortality and Morbidity Weekly report released Friday, found the chemical in all samples, while other potential toxins — such as plant and mineral oils — weren’t. It’s “direct evidence of vitamin E acetate at the primary site of injury within the lungs,” Schuchat said.

But Schuchat also emphasized the CDC’s investigation isn’t over: Officials still can’t say for sure that vitamin E acetate is the source of harm in all cases. “Identifying a collection of information that points to vitamin E acetate as a concern for lung pathology doesn’t mean that there are not other components causing lung harm,” she added.

Right now, though, the chemical has emerged as a likely culprit. And the new finding adds to the evidence from federal and state investigations showing vitamin E acetate appears to be a common link in many vaping-related illness cases. Of the 419 THC-containing products the Food and Drug Administration has tested, 50 percent contained the sticky substance as of November 8. Recent data from Utah found the chemical in 89 percent of the THC-containing cartridges tested there. New York State — where health officials were first to signal concern about vitamin E acetate — found vitamin E acetate in many of the THC vaping cartridges used by patients suffering respiratory illness.

Black market cannabis suppliers have been known to use vitamin E acetate — but legitimate suppliers may be using the chemical, too
State and federal investigations have also found many of the THC products people reported using were THC cartridges purchased through informal or black market sources. And vitamin E acetate has reportedly been used as a cheap cutting agent by illicit cannabis suppliers.

But even in states where cannabis vaping products are manufactured by legitimate sources, regulators haven’t necessarily been checking for the presence of vitamin E acetate.

Cannabis is subject to a patchwork of state-level health regulations where it’s legal or decriminalized. As I reported recently, these regulations are generally weak and inadequate, revealing a problem in cannabis oversight in this country.

So in Washington state, for example, the Liquor and Cannabis Board regulates the recreational cannabis marketplace, and products are tested for “potency, moisture, foreign matter, microbiological, mycotoxins (fungi), and residual solvents,” according to a spokesperson there. But only medical-grade products are also tested for pesticides and heavy metals. The list of tests also doesn’t include checking for chemicals, such as vitamin E acetate, that have emerged as a health threat. “Until only recently with the outbreak of the vapor associated lung injury crisis, no one suspected additional safety tests should be considered,” a spokesperson for the board said.

That’s why, with the mounting death toll, some experts are calling for more stringent oversight.

“How confident [are state regulators] that some of the ingredients used in vape oils are safe?” said David Hammond, a public health researcher at the University of Waterloo in Ontario who studies the e-cigarette and THC vape markets in Canada and the US. “I don’t know if anyone knows that. It’s the manufacturer’s job to make sure products don’t include harmful chemicals. But the whole concept of vaping from liquids is fairly new and we don’t have a lot of certainty.”

As we all have heard the news lately about the deaths “ associated “ with vaping.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that no consistent e-cigarette products have been linked to the disorder, and that while some victims used marijuana-based products, some reported using marijuana and nicotine products, and a smaller group reported using nicotine products only. However as we all know marijuana / cannabis will suffer the stigma put in place of E cigs.

From I can gather it seems the actual “ blend “ of juices used seem to be the target as now vitamin E acetate may be a component being used.

Other interesting news comes from the sick persons that have used “ suspect “ cartridges.
Any user of cannabis products - should already know that buying carts from the street or local dealer you run the fucking risk of bullshit oil. Example : I personally have seen Mario Carts floating around for sale in the Facebook marketplace . Ridiculously cheap prices for so called thc cartridges. Many are aware of fake / or mis labeled carts that are not genuine. Dank vapes come to mind.

It’s not too fucking hard for some guy buying blank carts and printed bags and decide to fill them with god knows what. If the price is too good to be true , more than likely it’s fish oil / vitamin e / terp flavoring or anybody’s guess.

I found pressing my own flowers ( rosin ) for my own cart making or tincture is the only way I choose to consume. Way too many opportunities for a sketchy person or even a company to push this hazardous bunk.

A good rule is never buy any distillate from the “ street “ ..... Being a cheap fuck can cost you your life.
Stopped buying shit off the streets when I started growing my own..

Don't be offended if I say, "stick it up yer ass"! They say the high is like smoking it, not eating it. No shit!

Cannabis Suppositories Are a New Doctor-Approved Trend in Medical Marijuana
There's no need to be squeamish.

Smoking is bad for your lungs, vaping requires expensive equipment, and marijuana edibles are hard to dose. That leaves one option: the back door. The prudish among us may cringe at the idea of slipping cannabis into our anuses to achieve relief from Crohn’s disease, chronic pain, or epilepsy, but doctors and the marijuana industry are increasingly advocating for cannabis extract suppositories. After all, despite the US’s increasing acceptance of medical marijuana, the practical fact remains that medical prescriptions should be standardized — not “hit a fat dab as needed.”

This is not new and caregivers have been using this for a long time. Some cancer patients can't handle a gram of oil orally daily and better tolerate it rectally.

Yep, just an article I grabbed off google, they can be easily made with cocoa butter and bud, no need to make oil first. Lots of info online for DIY solutions and the effects are similar to smoking, since the THC is not processed through the liver and converted into 11-hydroxy THC.

They wont let the general public purchase vapes at the pot shops here but they will let the medical patients purchase them. You figure they would they and protect the users who are more susceptible to having complications, but not. Seems about right, welcome too the world of dumb politicians who are so out of touch & have everything backwards!

It’s not that difficult to understand that anything smoked is probably not great for you...... jeesh. Smoking weed, cigarettes, hash, concentrates, their far from health supplements lol. I’m not preaching by the way just stating what should be a no brainer. I’ve been thinking it would be a good thing to switch to mostly edibles but haven’t made the jump yet, not really keen on the taste of a pot cookie lol.

I think that if you buy good products and use the professional e-cig vape kits such as you can see here https://www.migvapor.com/electronic-cigarettes/e-cig-starter-kits you will avoid negative effects. I smile nearly 15 years. Firstly, I smoke cigarettes and now I use vape. Everything is ok with me. But you must not smoke more as you can.
Fucking hate china and their stupid "hey stoopid american buy some this junk while i pretend to speak american" bots
