DIY with Quantum Boards

Man those 135w DIY kits go fast. They just restocked and I picked up a couple last week. Now it seems they are almost out again. I picked up another today as i still need a few more. Might have to go with the 260w board for my veg tent and give up my 135w for the 4x8 when they run out.

@Stephenj37826, amit, robin, hlg. I just listened through the last gml show, congrats on the new deal/bin with samsung. And thanks for keeping improving and trying to pass on your deals and improvements to customers. That's great, respect for that.
I'm interested in the new stuff you have coming out.
Yep I heard that too. Finally people won't be able to claim that their knockoffs are just the same as unbranded HLG boards because they have the same diodes.

I think it was before HLGcanada was even a thing, before GML was partnered with them as an authorized seller, I was trying to get places to contact HLG and carry their product in canada, because of the way they conduct themselves and the products they make - and of course documented grows done with them. I also contacted HLG themselves, asking about amazon.ca or some way we could get'em over here, haha.
The fact they offere(d) kits was a big thing for me too. The cost savings, and the diy/customizable factor (I love diy).

Now I buy direct from them at hlg.com though. Customer service is absolutely top notch.

Hello @Stephenj37826 , I came across this light today sold by one of your International retailers.

QB 188 is printed on the board.176 LM301H, 6 Osram Deep Red 660nm and 6 Osram Blue 470nm diodes (versus 192 LM301H diodes on the "original" HLG 100 V2).

Do you intend to offer these lights to domestic (USA) customers at some point and are any retailers other than Quickbloom Lights currently stocking them? Offering individual boards or packs of multiple boards would be an enticing option as well.

Latest QB288 fixtures

Each one will be flowering its own 2x3x5' tent. Running off HLG-185H-C1050B in series, so that each board gets @ 60W. (edit - just noticed i had typed 'serial mode' instead of series originally. sorry for confusion).

#1 is 3) QB288 v2 boards
#2 is 2) QB288 v1 (2835HE) boards + 1) QB288 Rspec board in the middle

I don't think you can run the Rspec on the same driver with the V1, at least check with HLG.

Hey guys. Planning on a microgrowery on a 3x3ft grow box on a 240 watt HLG driver. Ive read that its better to run 4 qb288 on 1050 watt hlg than 2 qb288 on 2100watt hlg. Should i go for it? Growing 4 different strains.

Its definitely nice to run them softer with more boards, so that you get more even spread, and the diodes are running more efficiently getting u a few more photons to the plants from each watt used.

This is how I like to run them, although I scored a bunch of the v1 boards on clearance to make it cost effective for me. I also have limited height to work with, which played a role in my decision. Doubling up on Rspecs would be $$$ but definitely make a nice light for your tent.

Other thing to consider is 9sf x 30w/sf = 270w so you would be a little short using only 240W (27w/sf). The HLG-240s that I have run pull almost exactly 240W from the wall. The HLG-120 seem to have more headroom, I have gotten it to pull 150+W if I turn it all the way up. So if you bought 2 of those instead you could run them at 135W each to get your 270W. Plus you have redundancy that way in case one fails your tent is not dark. I also don't know if its really a concern, someone with more experience please confirm this - If you run 4 boards in that space, you will have really even coverage anyway and 30W is probably insignificant in big picture.
