The Frustrating Multitude of Headband Cuts

Sorry to hijack this thread but I guess I should add this because it’s relevant. 56 day headband is actually an OG Kush cut that’s really uplifting. It’s a more sativa dominant OG like Fire, Skywalker and Underdog OG aka Loompas Headband vs a more indica dominant OG like Tahoe, Triangle Kush and Larry. From what I’m told, it also has a dark history hence the confusing headband monicker. Hope that helps.

Great info man, I grew out a pack of Underdog Urkle (Underdog OG aka Loompas HB x Purple Urkle) and my keeper was a HB leaner that smelled and looked like OG but with a white grape/flower smell from the Urkle. Also have a pack of Chem Fuego (Sourband(Sour D x HB) x Chem 91bx2) and the Sourband was supposedly a fast (49 days) finisher so it might be the same sativa dom og cut

Just placed an order for CSI Headband x Triangle Kush to check out.

The HSO headband is pretty decent smoke, seems to be a good mix consisting between earthy lemon phenos and gassy rubber smelling ones. I kept one, not a big yielder at all, it's reminiscent of the headband I remember smoking way back, but its not the same exactly. It has a nice fade to it in the end, and a white coating of trichomes that glisten.

She's getting close to finishing, the colors really start coming on at the end.

I do have to add that this clone has had a terrible life, things IRL happened and it was neglected and root bound in veg, looking all kinds of yellow and terrible i just up-potted it and threw it in flower where it developed ph issues I further neglected for many many weeks and it still performing in spite of all that.

Absolutely no signs of hermie traits either.

This one has a fuely chemical smell, some kind of rubber mixed in as well.

CSI Humboldt Notsodogs headband x Triangle Kush

Not very terpy, definitely not any headband smell I remember having, so apparently the headband that used to come around was most likely Loompas headband.
The buds are from 3 different plants, and I have two more getting chopped in the morning. The middle bud, the airiest, least producing plant is the least desirable in smoke quality. The other two hit right in the head, and one creates just a little more head pressure than the other but both are winners!

These are so much better smoke than the ultra terpy HSO re-creation 707 headband. I'm loving the way these hit you in the head.

Looks like I'm about to take another shot at headband, with Hazemans Headband F1, loompas headband x urkle x loompas headband bx male.
Looks like this is the last hope of available headband options to find it.

The notsodog headband that csi uses is definitely not an og. It has super long dense tops and has a way different smell
I didnt think it was either, the smoke is good and kushy, but I don't see any OG in mine either, and one of them shows strong Afghani influence with the fluffy buds and cheesy stink.

Are these OD?

I grew 707 Headband back in the early 2010's for about 8 years. It was definitely more on the SD dominate on terps and structure but was not as stringy and more dense. A lot of buyers would re-sell it as west coast Sour back in those days. I got the cut from a buddy out in Grass Valley and used the same mother for those 8 years. Back in this days the main 3 strains I would grow were 707 Headband, Blue Dream, and Green Crack.

--- Elemental Wellness Headband Cut ---

Going to add this as a possible additional cut, though not sure if may be one of previously mentioned cuts or possibly an irrelevant cut altogether, as I haven't seen this cut offered from EW the last 2 years...not sure why?

I picked her up 2020ish at Elemental Wellness in San Jose. She has strong 3-leaf dominance (see pic, compared to SFV from tissue culture, EW HB cut is more 3-leaf dom. and dark green than the SFV). She grows very lanky like AJSD, but stem rub is more limey/herbal...I get a clove-like stem rub from AJSD. Cuts seem to root fairly easily.

Her nose is insanely beautiful. I flowered her outdoor 2021 and she was very herbal/limey dominant nose. The herbal part is interesting, idk how else to describe it...not green like chlorophyll/hay, it's a rich herbal smell that is somewhat medicinal smelling, but with a bright limey note, maybe a touch of spice, like clove...it's very captivating. I would say she didn't have as much "funk" as an og, at least not in mid-flower. Legend OG is way more buttery at early flower, but otherwise, she is reminiscent of early legend OG flowers. Flowers and leaf were a bit darker green, but not as dark as my Chem 91. Unfortunately, she got trampled by deer mid-flower, so I didn't get a great representation of her finished nose or a smoke report, but the nose in early-mid flower made me keep her around for another try, prob. in 2023.

Edit: added pic of EW HB flowering outdoor 2021. You can still see the strong tri-leaf dominance even in though she is fairly big.

Wondering if anyone else has tried this HB cut from EW?

Could you describe the "ultra terpy HSO re-creation"...what were the terps like? I'm trying to figure out where the Elemental Wellness HB cut I have comes from. Many thanks...

I remember when 707 came out, I now have a pack and its on my list to check out. Back in 2012, when 707 was going around, my buddy was growing a different Headband, I think it was from Norcal where his growing 'guru' lived. We were in San Diego. It wasn't the most impressive looking plant, sort of like sour diesel but the buds were less robust. The other thing about it was the smell. Straight burnt rubber / glueish-chemical smell. Nothing sweet, or even sour. Oh - and I still have about 10 seeds from him. I'm guessing they're no good after 10 years..

I do have to update on CSI Notso HB x TK, the second run of the keeper and another one that may be as well. They have a much more gassy smell to them this last run, very sticky, and I'd recommend running a pack to find something OG or Headband like in seed form.

The 707 from HSO was more of garlicky gas.
